Our Verdict
All three Chase Southwest bonuses have actually gone up to 50,000 points publicly, but don’t be fooled. It’s actually possible to get 60,000 points on the Southwest Business Premier card, it’s been possible to get 50,000 points on the Personal Premier card as well since at least March 10th (it’s almost always at 50,000 points) and it has been possible to get 50,000 points on the Plus card (although it required a referral).
It’s nice to have all cards at 50,000 points (or higher) because it means it’s easy to get the Southwest companion pass with only two applications. You need to earn a total of 110,000 points within a calendar year and you’ll receive the companion pass for the rest of the year and the next calendar year, because of this you generally want to try and earn the points at the very start of the year rather than mid way through – but this really depends on your actual travel plans (if you’re doing all your travel in the tail end of the year, it really doesn’t matter).

I was told the Business Premier Code DFO1 points (60,000) do not qualify for companion fare.
I highly doubt that is correct. Would be ludicrous that some credit offers do count and others don’t.
Quick date point for any having trouble with the business card – i got the Premiere ($7,000) in March, denied for the business in April (was dumb enough not to call reconsideration) and just got instantly approved for the Plus ($8,000) yesterday. I know the business is harder to get approved for but I may have been able to get approved through reconsideration. I only have one other Chase card with a low credit limit so I didn’t need to move any credit around. Called SW and they will expedite the card for free in two days. Experian 730, FACO 765
Is it possible to get the plus now, get the premier close to October/November and gather 110k by January to get CP for 2016 and 2017?
No, because the Plus bonus points would have posted in 2015. It’s based on when you get the individual points not when you hit a total of 110k points.
