[Expired] Chase Ultimate Rewards 10,000 Points for $99 Motley Fool Subscription ($51 Moneymaker)

The Offer

Direct link to offer (login required)

  • Some Chase Ultimate Rewards cards are offer 10,000 Ultimate Rewards points when signing up for a $99 Motley Fool subscription.

Our Verdict

I see this offer on my Freedom Flex card, but not on my Freedom 5% card or my Sapphire Reserve card. Others are seeing it on various other cards.

If you also have a Sapphire Reserve, you can easily cash out the 10,000 points for $150 which would be a $51 moneymaker (minus tax, if there is), and some might value UR points at more than 1.5 cents as well.

Only risk here is if it doesn’t track with the portal. Also remember to cancel before the year is up, or just cancel right away after it tracks.

There’s also the option getting 10,000 American Airlines miles, but I assume most will prefer 10,000 Ultimate Rewards points.

Hat tip to readers QM and Mike

Reader jeph36 adds: If you are going to do it, be sure to use a card-linked program as well. Choice: 26x/$; Caesars: 36x/$; or JetBlue 3x/$.

Set up my account on 7/14 and the transaction was posted on 7/16 with only 7500 points pending. I am pretty sure it was 10000 points when I click through the UR portal. No idea whether Chase or Motley fool caused this problem but I will cancel the membership.

Can you let us know if they clawback the 7500 points? Yours would be a good DP as you have no choice but to cancel since they didn’t give you the full 10k points.

I cancel it today when the pending points just post on my account. I will update if chase clawback the points.

Did not receive the email, did not receive the bonus, there are no transactions in the Shopping History, the payment $99 was charged. I called twice and tried to explain to the customer service what happened. They know almost NOTHING about Shop through Chase. As a result, I argued with them, explaining what it is all about. One told me that this happened because I had not activated the offer. The other — that I had to have 10,000 points to pay for Motley Fool subscription, and that is why I was charged. There was no strength to call the third time. Will see what will happen.

Try looking under Shop through Chase | My shopping details. It’s in the same place as the offer was when I looked.

My email got caught in sp*m and couldn’t fine anything under any bonus activities, still can’t, but for me, it’s there.

Bummer. This was my first time using this portal so I was skeptical myself.

anyone planning to redeem the points and cancel for a refund within 30days? Does chase do claw backs with these?

Wondering on this myself. Terms say you need to keep for 60 days, but any experience canceling less than 30 to also get the refund from Motley Fool?

I cancelled my Motley Fool account within 30 days (received a refund) and was still able to keep my 10,000 Chase UR points. Only the points earned for spending (1.5% on Chase Freedom Unlimited) were clawed back due to the refund.

Just signed up on my Freedom for 10k points. Stupid NJ charges sales tax, eats into my $25 profit with CSP PYB. As suggested I went in and un-selected a host of options for sharing my data with 3rd party and contacting me via snail mail, phone, etc. All enabled by default.

Will update below if I get the tracking email. Didn’t really do anything special other than click through the UR portal.

Never got the email. However I did find a very hidden page that shows your clicks, if you click through to the Shop through Chase site, on the top bar there is a box titled “My Shopping Details”. This shows shopping history and recent transactions, I see an entry from last night for Motley Fool with date and order amount($99). So it seems like it did track in some way at least. Hopefully it shows up as pending within 29 days, seems like you can cancel through Motley Fool by then and get a refund.

Not true….. you can cancel just the auto renew. However, that function becomes available online after a few months into the subscription. Based on my experience.

Signed up P2 (using P2s name) via my CF using my CC. Has been almost 3 hours with no email from Chase.

Does having different name on Motley Fool vs shopping portal/card matter?

I did another on my CIU and got email within 1.5 hours.
