Existing Chase United Business Explorer have been sent a letter stating that on July 1, 2021 they will be converted to the new Chase United Business card. The annual fee on the new card is $99 instead of $95 (increase of $4) and comes with four new benefits:
- $100 annual United travel credit after 7 United purchases over $100
- Receive 5,000 bonus miles each card anniversary when you have both the United Business card and a personal United credit card
- Get 25% back on United inflight purchases
- Earn 2 miles per $1 spent on local transit and commuting, including taxicabs, mass transit, tolls, and ride share services

I don’t have either card, but Chase seems to be discontinuing several older MP cards this summer in order to consolidate its product portfolio. Could the Unitedâ„ Presidential Plusâ„ Card be next to get the guillotine?

This is awful news. Its the last card I know of that had an easy PRICE Protection benefit.
This might be okay – does anyone know if the $100 travel credit posts to Travel Bank or if they issue some sort of certificate or ?
5,000 miles + $100 > 10,000 miles (at least for me)
My mistake – it is $100 statement credit on the card from Chase.
Yeah, this sucks. This may be my oldest credit card, I’ve had it for decades. Only reason it was worth keeping was for the annual 10,000 points after spending $25K in a calendar year. Will be closing this one in the next few weeks.
Anyone know if the replacement is considered a different card for the purposes of getting the signup bonus?
Why would anyone put $25k spend to united card? (unless you don’t have any other cards)
You won’t get SUB with an old card replacement/upgrade. Need to sign up for a new card for that. You can get a bonus on a new card even if you received a SUB on united explorer business before.
As they said, 10k miles after $25k spend. Although that doesn’t seem worth it. You do also get 500 PQP for $12k spend, up to 1,000 PQP, but sounds like OP doesn’t care about that.
For me 10K miles for $25K spend is a net loss. There are so many ways to get much more than 10K miles with this spend.
honestly united card is only good for paying for UA flights when you fly with luggage
You are welcome to your opinion.
sorry if my tone was too aggressive
but was $25K an actual, “organic” spend?
It was worth it because with the 25K spend you got a PQD waiver for United elite status too
Received this letter and another one for my no AF United MileagePlus card (PC from MPE) saying they’re converting it to the United Gateway card on July 1st.
I prefer the older version with 10k anniversary points and $100 travel credit is weak FUCK YOU CHASE!!!
get help
WHAT EXACT older version had that? I got the Chase United Explorer Business card two years ago and it never came with any 10k anniversary points. But it came (and the new version will continue to come with) 2 United club passes annually.
Are these two different cards? Can I apply for the Explorer card now and apply for the new one when it comes out?
Explorer biz card was phased out last year in 1Q. They have been considered different products, so if one had previously gotten the bonus on the Explorer biz card, they’d still be eligible for the newer United biz card.
The Chase United Explorer Business card got discontinued some time ago, and this new one already come out some time ago. So it’s just the people who already had the Business Explorer who are now being forced to convert to the new one.
The Chase United Explorer Business card no longer exists except for those people who already have it, and after this conversion no one will have it any more.
Anyone tried purchasing seven $100+ refundable flights?
