Citi Dividend Releases 5% Categories for Entire 2019
Citi has now released the 5% categories for the entire 2019 on the Citi Dividend card:
- Q1: Gas stations and Home Depot
- Q2: Drugstores and fitness clubs
- Q3: Airlines and car rentals
- Q4: Best Buy and department stores
Pretty similar to the 2018 Dividend categories, but nice to see drugstores is back.
Remember, with Citi Dividend you get $300 in total reward dollars per year, irrespective of when you spend it. So you can do $6,000 in a single quarter and then stop using the card for the rest of the year.
Hat tip to reader Zac
Nice, easy $300 in gift cards in Q1.
do you know if 7-11 code as Gas for the Citi Dividend?
YMMV. My experience is yes, even without attached gas station.
I’m looking at Q2 since they’ve brought back drugstores. Pretty trivial to unload even without access to money orders just on IRS tax payments.
Homerun.
Q2 homerun. All $6k will be done at Druggie stores. Happy to see that back. Easy $300
Much better than last year. 6k at CVS should be easy.
How will you liquidate the gift cards?
MO at grocery store
how can you do MO with OV cards at CVS?
Is CVS now a grocery store?
Anyone know the PC rules for this? Can I convert a Double Cash to a Divident card?
Yea I just did but they wont ship the card until February
I called ~3 weeks ago to PC by AA Plat (AF had just posted) to a Dividend. The card is still showing as an AA Plat when I log in, and the AF hasn’t been refunded. PCing Citi cards is a huge pain from what I understand. Don’t count on getting the card for several weeks.
I feel like someone in the marketing team just took the images from the 2018 categories and said “yes, let’s put this here, and move this here and call it a day”. lol.
2018 didn’t have drugstores.
+1
.
I seem to recall a previous drugstore/fitness combo, may have been 2017. Logical that CITI would look at prior category matchups to see what worked (I.e. overall card usage and spend related to a promotion) and what didn’t.
Brought drugstores back… yes!
Those of you holding a CITI Dividend Card might not realize it’s like any other card: you should be calling occasionally to see if there are any available offers that can be added. This is simply in terms of a general inquiry and not part of a “I’m thinking of cancelling” retention effort. The reason I mention this is because awhile back I called, stating I’d like to get more use out of the card, and an offer was applied that gave me 5% back on ALL purchases (excluding the usual convenience checks, balance transfers, etc but gift card purchases all worked). Easily maxed out for the year on that one offer alone. It never hurts to ask.
wow! That’s a really nice move! Thanks for sharing!
i feel another hard pull being added to my credit report 🙂
is this card available for new applications? I just see double cash card for cash back cards.
Ask sebby says you can product change to dividend card from double cash… how long you recommend waiting to product change a card? I want to max this card out in q2.. you think that is reasonable?
Sorry, but why are drug stores so good? I can get 5% back on my old amex blue there any day.
Also, is the only way to get this card through a conversion? it’s not even listed on Citi’s website
Chuck, have you gotten any reports about difficulty signing up for the Q1 5% quarterly offer? Every time I go to the URL dividend.quarterlyoffer.citi.com I do not get the typical choice to activate the offer, only a link back to the Citi home page advertising all of their different credit cards. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Same for me…
Not seeing how to sign up for this- just keep getting redirected to a homepage as Eastside also reported
Same thing is happening to me. I live chatted and was told my offer is not on my account and a ticket was submitted
