Citi Double Cash

Our Verdict

Unfortunately you can’t get the Citi Rewards+ bonus if you’ve received a bonus on the Preferred/Premier/Prestige or have closed one of those cards in the last 24 months. It’s normally a better idea to get a bigger bonus on one of those cards and then downgrade to the Rewards+. I’m not sure if there is any sort of similar restriction on the double cash card but I don’t think there is. I do think the double cash bonus is worth doing as the card itself is useful for the 2% earning rate and the fact it can transfer to Citi rewards partners at a 1:1 rate if you have a Premier/Prestige card. Because of that I’ll add this in branch bonus to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

This card has been my daily driver for a couple years now. If I don’t have a signup bonus I’m trying to meet then all my spend goes on this card. Sometimes it’s annoying to manage all the different point balances, it’s nice to just know I’m getting a solid 2% cash back.

Does branch still offer a welcome bonus? From below it looks like it went down to $50, but months ago.

I have Citi Rewards+ & ThankYou cards. Anyway to find out if there are referral offer on these or any CITI cards? Secure messaging has 3 option which are basically to fill ou a form for COVID help, lost card, or dispute a chrage. Live chat is virtually dead… no reply after continually refreshing for 3hours.

I just applied today, they said the bonus was reduced to 50$, I went for it anyway.

I applied at a branch in San Diego in Nov 2019 and was told by the rep that they would run the offer till the end of Dec 2019. He didn’t give me specific date. But, if you have a Citi bank close by might as well go and check.

The 30,0000 points bonus for Rewards+ is still available as of today. I just saw this offer at a branch. Sucks that I did the 15,000 points bonus a few months ago.

I got the Double Cash in a branch today. The rep was friendly, knew about the in-branch bonus, and didn’t try to sell me anything else. Took about 5 minutes. They do ask for your annual income and housing expenses, which I at least find somewhat uncomfortable telling a stranger. But I’ll do it for $100.

I had similar experience when I applied for rewards+ in Nov 2019.

Just wanted to let you know that I received an email allowing me to apply for this offer online, which is obviously preferable to going in branch.
