The Offer

No direct link to offer

  • Citi has sent out some lucrative spending offers to Citi Sears cardholders. Here are some of the offers seen:
    • Earn 5x/5% cash back up to 5,000/$50 when you spend $500 or more on all eligible purchases
    • Earn 10x/5% cash back up to 4,000/$40 when you spend $300 or more on eligible clothing store and department store purchases

The Fine Print

  • Valid from 03/01/2019 until 4/30/2019
  • Must activate promotion by end of the promotion period

Our Verdict

This card is great because of these types of targeted spending offers, this is the reason we have it ranked #1 on our list of store credit cards. The two offers i’ve seen are weaker than we normally see, but hopefully others have received bigger/better bonuses.

FYI response from a secure message-
Our records indicate that you un-enrolled from Shop Your Way during the middle of the campaign and enrolled in ThankYou program, therefore didnot get the credit since you no longer met the requirements. Offer: You can earn 5% back in a statement credit up to a total of
$50.00 for every eligible $1.00 spent of $500.00 or more in total eligible ALL SPEND purchases that are made to your Sears Mastercard from 8/1/2018 – 9/30/2019.

The purchase of $500.00 (Verizon) made on 03/08/2019 does qualify for
the below offer. Offer: You can earn 10X ThankYou Points up to a total of 5,000 TY points
for every eligible $1.00 spent of $400.00 or more in total eligible UTILITY purchases that are made using your Sears Mastercard from 3/1/2019 -4/30/2019.

Just a DP, applied for the SYWR version in Feb, hit spend and got credit, then right after the first statement generated called in. Was able to product change to the TYP version (She called it unenrolling my card for SYWR and enrolling it for TYP). Now to get targeted…..

Hi, Doc, I signed up for the card when it had “$40 back on $50 purchases” (now it’s 20 back on 30). However now they are refusing the credits and arguing the spending had to be made on sears purchases. I read out to them the T&C and called their bluff and then they offered to give me $20 instead of $40. I refused. How can dispute these kind of dishonest “sign up offers”?

I had a similar situation, although not confrontational. They just didn’t send the $40 credit under their T&C and I had to chase them via secure message to get it. I think Citi Retail Card services is much weaker that Citi mainline (and that’s already pretty crazy I/T) but it sounds like it might be deliberate when I think about it.

Can someone please help me to confirm if my understanding is correct? Essentially, max benefit is — spend accumulated $1500 on all purchases and get total of 6500 TYPs. So 4.33% back?

Once you earn the points, is it pretty easy to redeem for cash or cash like redemption? Thanks.

I have offer on travel. 10x points upto 8000 points for purchases greater than $600. So max 8000 points by spending $800 on travel. Not bad.

Dumb question, but is the “$500 or more” cumulative? Meaning, you spend, $100, then $150, then $75. etc. and once you reach $500 (min) you get 5%? Or is it you have to spend $500 or more on a single charge to get the 5%?
