[Update] Signup For CLEAR & Get 10,000-15,000 United Miles (Free With Platinum Card)

Update 6/16/22: Points are finally posting for those who did it during the initial March promo.

Update 5/28/22: Initially people were struggling getting the page to load properly, but it’s reportedly working now.

Update 5/25/22: Offer will be renewed beginning May 27 – July 9, 2022. They also added a new 10,000 tier bonus for non-Premier United members.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • CLEAR is offering 15,000 United miles when you sign up for a CLEAR membership. Members must be a MileagePlus Premier member to qualify.
  • Regular MileagePlus members get 10,000 miles.

The Fine Print

  • Members must enroll in CLEAR through offer landing page in order to qualify
  • Please allow 6-8 weeks after completed qualifying activity for miles to post to your account. United® may change the MileagePlus Program including, but not limited to, rules, regulations, travel awards and special offers or terminate the MileagePlus Program at any time and without notice.
  • Taxes and fees related to award travel are the responsibility of the member.
  • Bonus award miles, award miles and any other miles earned through non-flight activity do not count toward qualification for Premier status unless expressly stated otherwise.

Our Verdict

This is the best CLEAR offer we’ve seen, previous best was $100 United TravelBank credit. Remember that you can get the CLEAR fee reimbursed if you have an American Express Platinum or Business Platinum card. CLEAR increased their cost from $179 to $189 in May 2022, but it’s only $119 for MileagePlus or SkyMiles members.

How do you double-dip on United miles and Amex reimbursement? Amex says you must enroll at https://www.clearme.com/enroll/ but the link above takes you to a different page.

This is what it says for me (emphasis mine):

“Must first add offer to Card and then use same Card to redeem. Only U.S.-issued American Express® Cards are eligible. Limit 1 enrolled Card per Card Member across all American Express offer channels. Your enrollment of an eligible American Express Card for this offer extends only to that Card. ***Offer valid online only at US website clearme.com.*** Valid only on purchases made in US dollars. Not valid for e-gift card purchases.”

Not sure what your terms say, but for me it clearly says I just have to signup at clearme.com and not clearme.com/enroll, so I’m inclined to think it’s double dippable without any extra legwork. But maybe this is YMMV

Thanks Rick

Dave You don’t need to sign up through any specific link to get the Amex credit. It’s like Amex offers where they say you need to click through http://www.website.com/amex but in reality you can click through a shopping portal and still redeem the offer.

Thanks Avi

Anybody who cancelled their clear membership and re-signed up as a new user got the miles?

Dan

Some others were saying if you use a different email it will work… however I don’t really want to have to go through identity set up at airport again. My wife had 2 accounts previously and they said you have to call and ask to merge them

Wow! Miles from the March promo finally showed up today 6/15. Signed up on 3/19. Interestingly, they backdated the post date to 4/14. What a deceptive and shady company.

For the current and future promos, I would say take the promo end date, add 8 weeks, then another two weeks when they get enough people threatening legal action for them to finally post. So for the current promo ending July 9, don’t expect miles to show up until second half of September.

Mine are also showing as posted with the same backdated post date. Not sure when they posted – only just checked.

Same, mine was also deposited on 6/15 with the transaction backdated to 4/14.

Thanks for the info. Do you have to record your personal info at airport kiosk to get the mile, or just wait? Like mentioned in other posts, I just want miles but no intention to use their serve as a global entry member.

frugalman The CLEAR offers never require that you go to an airport to give biometric info, even if they say they do. I’ve successfully redeemed several offers with several email addresses without completing registration in person.

Just read the fine print. Must be a Mileageplus Premier member OR co-branded card holder to get the 15,000 miles

Even having the United Gateway co-branded credit card should get 15k miles YMMV

Mileageplus general members will get 10k miles

Looked for mileage flights in aug. 2022. Notation states “Exclusively available to you as a mileageplus cardmember.”

Should get 15k miles by having the United Gateway credit card under the fine print terms

If I pay for me ($119) & my wife’s ($119) CLEAR membership with my Amex Plat, will I get $189 credit? If so, it’s a nice win: $50 for 10k miles.

Dale

You are able to add a family member as part of the sign on process for $60 so you might be able to get both covered as part of one Amex Plat

Can the family member earn 10k United miles by doing it in conjunction with my CLEAR membership (i.e. $60)? Or, is the only way to earn 10k United miles for Player 2 is to pay for the full price of the CLEAR membership (i.e. $119)?

I haven’t gotten my miles from the April go around. When I reach out to CLEAR, they insist I need to contact United. That makes no sense—why would United be paying people miles to sign up for an outside company’s service? Has anyone’s miles posted?

I did an earlier CLEAR offer for 5000 United miles. I contacted United, and a couple months later they responded that the 5000 miles posted. The United activity page indeed shows the miles, with a date from before I contacted United. I don’t know if contacting United helped; it’s also possible that the miles posted a while ago but it takes the website a couple months to show them.

Can I receive the UA miles without “To complete your enrollment, find us at the nearest CLEAR airport to scan your ID and fingerprints”? I have global entry (TSA free). So clear is not useful to me. But considering Amex platinum card full reimbursement, it is a free 10k miles that I don’t want to refuse. However, I really don’t want to give out my personal info to a private company. Let me know if I have to do that to receive the miles or not. I am not intending to use their service at all.

From my experience and many other posts, you don’t need to complete the Clear bio at an airport to get the miles. Hang tight and wait about 65 days (YMMV) for miles posting.

Thanks. Let’s wait and see.
