The Offer

Delta has another unadvertised flash sale with flights to Mexico and some Carribean islands on sale starting from 10,000 miles round trip. Flights are available from April through June 2018 and also from October through February 2019. Flights should be available out of most airports.

Our Verdict

Delta also has a sale on flights to Zurich from 38,000 miles + $59 round trip. Delta no longer offers an award chart, so calling both of these sales is a little bit generous but they are cheaper than the standard rates so we will post them anyway. Any excuse to use up Delta miles is always a good one as well.

I live in WI, so I just did a “Flexible Date” search in Mid-Oct for all of the listed Caribbean destinations out of both MSP and MKE – the “sale” mileage fares weren’t available on a single date/route.

Unless there’s a better way to search for the best dates/routes that are actually discounted, not sure what the point of this post is.

There were plenty of non-stop flights that I saw last night out of MSP to CUN priced at 20k, which I consider an amazing deal. I made a booking for February and March next winter. Thanks, Doc!

Thanks. I booked Turks & Caicos for next winter at 22000 miles. Not a lot of seats available. I’ve never been. Seems like a good time to go! These “flash sales” are a good way to use Skymiles, which are being distributed like candy by AMEX these days.

When trying to find the sale prices for a specific route, what is the best search method? Trial and error doesn’t seem to be very efficient.

Nice deal! But travel alerts in Cancun and nearby areas starts to bother me. Lots of not so good news happened there in the past few months and weeks. Makes me think twice. I had trips that I ignored warnings and had a great time, its just these areas are under the radar for safety concerns. Stay safe!

you only live once. a friend was just visiting RDJ and mother taken to the ground, knife to neck. who cares. i went to barbados, off season, was told it was stupid, and literally missed a tropical storm and some hurricanes…. it rained 4 mins the entire trip, and had the time of my life…. i would not go to punta cana anyway as its a overly americanized area. to me a vacation is seeing the world….
