Serious question: Does anyone actually get value out of Skymiles? I mean take Atlanta-Liberia for 58,500. This is supposed to be some kind of flash sale. I get Delta from AMEX MR, which have a minimum cash value of $.0125 via conversion to Schwab. This comes out to $731.25 price for a Delta ticket which is essentially the regular cash price?
I got RT nonstop flights for me and P2 to SLC for 12,000 each when the cash price was $280. I can easily find value there. Not to mention the 2cpp delta vacations promo
Yes I actually find Delta to be the most valuable program for me behind BA. Last year did flash sale nonstop from tpa-ams for 3 roundtrip for 120k total. and frequently find roundtrips in the states for 10-15 k.
Yes, I see a lot of 9K round-trips to various locations.
like where?
Same flight on SW but with 1 stop points on a wanna get away is 14,196 each way taxes $22.13 to LIR from $63.70.
Anytime fare to $519
Anytime fare from $558
but again stopover in HOU
So I guess that Flash sales are still YMMV
LIR was actually on my radar as we have wanted to spend some time in Costa Rica and now seriously considering the SW CP and use miles to pay for the trip, but not from ATL but From West Coast
Rule #1 in this game? YMMV
Rule #2 in this game? Location dependent.
Rule #3 in this game? See the first two rules.
Sometimes. Looking to book flights to Vegas next year and found good value on Delta using points. In contrast American flights were terrible. Sometimes it’s the other way around.
I live in ATL also, Delta doesn’t give us the discounts like in the more competitive markets.
