Do This Now: Pay Out your Cellular & Cable Bills with Targeted Amex Offers, Expires 1/31

A while back, Amex released a targeted offer to get $10 off $75 on your cellular bill with Verizon, AT&T, Tmobile, Sprint, & US Cellular. There’s also a geographically limited offer for $10 off $50 on your cable bill.

These offers are expiring soon – at the end of January.

Each of these offers can be used twice on each registered card. And most companies will allow you to overpay your bill; that has been my experience with AT&T and Sprint, for example. With AT&T, I found that they won’t allow two payments of the exact same dollar amount on the same day with the same card; staggering the amount by adding 1¢ works.

Many authorized user cards were targeted with this offer as well, and some of us will be able to make many payments and get the credit for each one, across multiple cards.

Consider paying out your cellular and cable bills for a number of months or longer. Since this Amex Offer seems to come up from time to time, I’ll just pay out 6 months or so and hope another offer or deal comes up by then.

I got this on a few of my cards and overpaid my at&t bill. Great deal. I paid a couple each time I logged on, but used different cards each time.

Found the deal on the authorized users log-in accounts too. You have to have a separate log-in set up for each user though.

My cellular bill isn’t high enough to do this. Also I like to keep it on my wells fargo for the free insurance.

Wells Fargo gives you free phone insurance if you put your monthly bill on their card.

I had a very weird situation with the cable offer. I got it on only one of my cards, and used it twice, but the offer stays there as “added” in my phone app till now. Of course I tried a third time, but no credits came again. I guess there some system error. Similar weird thing happened to the Restaurant Week offer as well: I was able to add to all my cards via multi-tab trick, but none of my cards have listed in “added” in the phone app.

I got this offer last year and it was fabulous. I didn’t this year, in fact, I rarely get any of the good Amex offers anymore on either of my two cards! Is there some kind of algorithm when it comes to getting the good offers (like this one, the Rite Aid offer, etc.)? Is there anything I can do on my end to get these offers?

A better deal may be to check on eBay. I buy top-ups for my T-Mobile prepaid account for as low as $72 for a $100 credit. This way it doesn’t charge the ridiculous tax on refills upfront as well
