Does Chase Match a Checking or Savings Bonus? (Yes, For 21 Days)

We know that Chase will match credit card bonuses for 90 days from applying. What about bank bonuses – will they match those as well?

A friend of mine just heard from Chase via secure message that they can change the promo code attached to the new account for the first 21 days after opening, provided the bonus has not already been credited.

Business checking bonuses can also be matched, both via secure message and in branch, according to reports in the comments here. It probably has the same 21 day timeframe.

We asked this same question back in 2015. At that time Chase did not match bank bonuses online/phone. Apparently, they now match for 21 days from when the account was opened by sending them a secure message with the new unique promo code. They can update the bonus code attached to your checking/savings account.

This question of Chase matching bank bonuses comes up often, and lots of people are asking it with regards to getting their $600 Chase checking/savings bonus matched for the new increased $900 bonus. So long as you get the unique promo code for the $900 bonus, it should be possible to have Chase update the promo code attached to your account. Please let us know your experiences with this.

Update 11/19/19: Based on the comments, it seems that using Secure Message is YMMV since it has to get escalated to someone who knows how to do it, and some have success (1), but not everyone. Going in-branch seems to work well. Some report it working in branch for up to 30 days.

Is there a easy way to find out if you are eligible for checking/ savings account bonus? It’s very confusing now.

They should come up with a pop up like amex.

Chase shutdown my personal Starbucks debit card. Am I still eligible for business checking accounts?

Why did they shut the debit card?

I was never told beyond, “It’s our decision.” Their letter said the same. I loaded the thing with a legit debit card in my name, tried to use the starbucks for a small transaction and I was immediately denied. I called to clear and verify the transaction, waited, denied two more times, called again, and then it finally cleared. The next day they shut down the debit and my access to my other accounts online — zero churning/cycling on any of my 3 Chase cards prior to signing up with the starbucks and I have been with chase just shy of 20 years. That’s just how it goes I suppose. lol

Does this work for the Business checking accounts?
I opened an account two weeks ago for the $300 Bonus not realizing there was a $500 offer.

I was curious about the same thing, although I’ve already gotten the $300/past 21 days. Might as well ask, worst they can say is no, and you get to be the DP we need either way.

Yes. I opened a business checking account last month with a $300 offer. Saw the $500 offer about a week later, sent them a secure message, and they changed the promo code to the $500 offer.

I was told 14 days in branch… maybe 14 days is for Business Checking… I switched from $300 bonus code to $500 bonus code

Skor This worked for you? They were able to just remove the $300 unique code in the system and add the $500 one. I tried to go in Branch and even worked with the same person who opened my account but they were afraid to remove the code in fear they couldn’t add the new one and I would be out all of the money.

I opened my ccount on 11/11 with the $600 code. Got the new $900 code yesterday. Have sent a secure message to Chase today. WIll let everyone know once I hear back from them.

IDK, the $900 “targeted” offer that I received via DoC on 11/13 has following statement;

“Cannot be used for account(s) opened before 11/13/2019”.

I opened up my chase account for the 600 bonus on 10/30. I haven’t gotten either bonus yet. I went in branch to a banker with a coupon code and they upgraded me from the 600 to the 900 bonus on 11/15.

They will not switch bonus codes if you have already received a portion of a multi-part bonus (even if you haven’t received the portion with the bonus increase).

No luck here. Earlier this month P2 opened checking/savings using $600 public offer. Two days ago sent them SM requesting to change it to the $900 “targeted” offer (included coupon code in the SM). Here is their reply;

“we apologize, we’re not able to add the coupon code
for the $900.00 promotion. You’re not eligible for this
offer as your Checking account is limited to one checking
related bonus every two years from the last enrollment
date. We appreciate bla, bla bla…..”

Has anyone else had luck upgrading via SM, and if so, what did you specifically ask? I’ve sent three messages, and chase always responds with “Sorry, we can’t add/replace the promo code.” I don’t live near a branch, so can’t easily get in-person help.

Requested them via SM to match the $900 offer, received denial in reply. Went to a nearby branch and it worked like a charm! They even gave me printouts as receipts clearly showing the $900 offer was attached to accounts. I know you don’t have a branch nearby but just wanted to let you know that I was denied by SM but was able to switch in-person.

I am also in same situation. New branch opened in our area. I tried in the branch. They don’t know how to do it. Can you explain how they it for you ?

It worked for me (opened accounts ~ 14 days ago). Make sure the secure message includes the promo code you want them to switch to.

Do you have to have a code for the higher offer, or is it enough to just know it exists?
