The Offer

Direct link to claim form

  • If you’re an eBay seller that lives in the United States that paid fees for a Buy It Now auction between July 30, 2008 to September 10, 2015 and had your item removed from listing when a a prospective buyer click buy it now and didn’t complete their purchase.

The Fine Print

  • Not eligible if your listing fees were refunded or if you were ultimately paid by the buyer
  • Proof of purchase not required
  • Settlement pool is $1,200,000

Our Verdict

Estimate settlement is $5 for non vehicle listings and $10 for vehicle listings, you can only make one claim for each so the maximum you could receive is $15. The settlement pool is quite small, so I doubt you’ll receive the full amount but I’d be happy to be proven wrong.

I’m sure most people (myself included) listed a buy it now within the time period and ran into this issue. It was highly annoying, so I’m glad eBay is having to fork out some money over this. Please don’t participate in this class action unless you were actually affected by it.

If you’re new to class action lawsuits and settlements, I’d read this first. You can view more class action settlements here.

Their is a stipulation that if you have an active ebay account that you might receive a higher payout.
It also states if anything is left which I doubt that it will be split between active ebay users who participated in the settlement.
When we received notice we try to file online and it was so bogged down we gave up and filed by snail mail.
