The Class Action

  • National Milk Producers Federation, aka Cooperatives Working Together (CWT), Dairy Farmers of America, Inc., Land O’Lakes, Inc., Dairylea Cooperative Inc., and Agri-Mark, Inc. have agreed to a class action settlement due to allegations of price fixing. They deny any wrong doing but have agreed to the settlement.

Who’s Eligible

  • You are eligible if you bought milk or fresh milk products (crem, half & half, yogurt, cottage cheese, cream cheese or sour cream) since 2003 in any of the following states:
    • Arizona
    • California
    • the District of Columbia
    • Kansas
    • Massachusetts
    • Michigan
    • Missouri
    • Nebraska
    • Nevada
    • New Hampshire
    • Oregon
    • South Dakota
    • Tennessee
    • Vermont
    • West Virginia
    • Wisconsin

Our Verdict

Proof of purchase is not required and the settlement pool is $52,000,000. The amount you receive will be dependent on the number of people that claim. I assume if you live/lived in one of those states you would have probably purchased fresh milk/products so it’s worth filing a claim. You only have until January 31st, 2017 to file your claim so better to do it now if you’re eligible.

They are claiming that individuals will receive between $45 – $70 and entities may receive between $1260 & 1960. I think it’ll be much much lower than that, but sometimes you get surprised with these. If you’re new to class action settlements, read this. You can find more of them here.

What’s the secret to activating the virtual debit card? I’ve tried six ways from Sunday and can’t figure it out.

No problem activating my virtual card today. I saw others had issues earlier so decided to wait a bit.

👀 For me getting my “virtual card” is embarrassing it’s so unbelievably annoying. My “case” has been “assigned to a specialist” 🙄 It has been extraordinarily time-consuming.

alot of people including myself seem to be experiencing a ton of frustration trying to access/activate the digital cards online… I have a card with my name and the card info on it but can’t activate it after numerous attempts / creating an account on the ‘prepaid center’ – seems like it’s not worth the $18.90 for all the hassle…

That may be why it’s hard to retrieve. I wish they’d just offered us an AMZ credit.

Glad I saw this.
I saw the 2nd settlement email and marked it as SPAM. I figured it was clever spam since I’d already gotten my settlement I couldn’t be getting more. And the link was some weird URL. Must be spam! Now I realize the 2nd email is exactly the same as 1st with weird URL andd all but just more free money.

A lot of settlements don’t have pro rata, if you’ve ever been rejected from a legit claim, that’s why – the settling company keeps it.
