They’re offering a $100 checking bonus (in the form of a Publix gift card) if you sign up during a Grand Opening event on 6/22/22 at their Summerfield branch. https://campuscu.com/grand-opening/ Offer doesn’t really have much in the way of anti-churning language (or any language…) so that $100 could be worth it if you’re local and could use the Publix credit. Also the free junk food, which is invaluable.  William Charles  Chuck

(They also have some loan offers, 1.5% and 1.25% up to $200 and $300, that ig could be interesting in specific circumstances)

I recently closed my checking account. I am keeping my savings share account open in order to maintain membership in case of a future promotion.

I confirmed separately by SM and Live Chat that the savings share account needs to have a daily minimum balance of $250 to waive the $8/month low balance fee when you have no other accounts open with them.

Closed via SM, less than 1 year. $25 ETF listed in fee schedule not assessed, of course, I did not ask either.

Zeroed checking, but couldn’t zero the share. Received $5 share check in the mail a few days later – no nastygram.

Cannot combine offers was the only restriction they added in my old screenshots. However, I think they ditched the loopholes to get membership OOS.

I was getting tired of having too many accounts open and really cleaning house. I have a bunch more to go… Sunflower, Harborstone, Delta.

I think I’ll close my checking account but keep the savings account/my membership open in the hope that another bonus offer comes around. Existing members without a checking account were eligible for the last one (for $150), and I’m OOS/OOF so would have no way of getting back in now that the Human Society route for membership has been closed.

Yesterday, in an unannounced move, Campus USA Credit Union closed my accounts and those of someone I referred. Anyone else?

I opened a checking and savings from out-of-state last summer for the $300 bonus. No use since receiving the bonus. There was still some money in each account. Presumably I will be receiving a check.

Anyone sign up in October and waiting on the bonus to post or had one post recently? Seems like I’ve gone a bit passed most other DPs at this point. Man I hate hassling reps for bonus, but did use real DD.

Woo Guy same. it’s been a few days over the 90 from account opening, going to be a bit patient due to “If the requirements are met and the account remains open after 90 days, the $300 reward will be made available to the member.”

Tax forms were issues today for my HH.
Daedalus Eric arizonapv Svy missjenniferd1

Those that did the $300 referral bonus, be sure to verify your 1099-INT amount. They botched my P2’s 1099-INT even after bringing it to their attention and them telling her it would be correct on the tax form. (December statement was incorrect, hence why I knew there was an issue.)

Thanks! Although the amount on my December statement was also incorrect because you mentioned this issue previously to me, I proactively sent a secure message to Campus. However, my message went to a competent service rep (“Nick”) who was able to understand the issue (after a couple messages back and forth) and ensured that my 1099-INT was correct. He did say that he was unable to correct the December statement because it had already been issued. So your smarts helped one of us at least! Sorry you did not have the same outcome. Maybe Nick can help? Thanks again!

Svy,

Neither you nor Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek mentioned that what actually happened is we were issued an additional $300 in December after our original $300 was removed. That is an important detail as I’m sure it didn’t affect many others.

I actually informed Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek about this issue earlier this month so I’m glad to see that my “smarts” indirectly helped you.

I didn’t think it was necessary to post about it here at the time because it apparently only involves people that Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek referred. He got Campus to manually issue him the $100 referral bonus and that negatively affected our accounts. The same thing happened to you, correct?

Anyway, like you I dealt with a competent rep (Jennifer) that assured me that my 1099 would be correct. It was.

I didn’t mention the exact details… other than to say it may be an issue if you did the referral bonus. You assume this is a referred Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek-only issue? I’d assume out of the people that did the promo, I am not the only one that had a wife/friend etc that they referred and the credit union did the same adjustment to more than just my referrals. I know at least one person used my referral because they liked the lack of HH language on the referral bonus terms.

Out of the hundreds of bank bonuses I have done, this is the one bank/CU I have seen screw up such a basic operation consistently – around 75% failure rate on the referral bonuses posting without prompting, 50% failure on the checking bonus posting without asking, and my first time EVER having to request 1099 to be corrected.

Yes, I fully believe P2’s error occurred when they removed the $300 CHECKING PROMO bonus and applied the $300 REFER FRD. And, even though I specifically had my P2 alert them to correct the YTD dividend/interest situation, they did not fix it. CSR Cathy assured my P2’s 1099 is would be correct when it was issued. Nice work, Cathy! But, the root cause was them messing with the $300 bonus. This is probably why most banks would not have gone back in a screw with the $300 bonus transaction, and instead just corrected the missing $100 referral.

I had P2 contact them yesterday to fix this (submit a corrected 1099-INT, as you cannot really fix it now), and the initial response was they needed my P2 to submit/send them the form. Wait, what? You need me to submit a form you generate?

And, the other reason I posted here was to remind people that they just posted the 1099-INT’s and to check them early. And yes, you Eric, you did alert me to that situation originally on the December statement, so thanks for that. However, a contributing factor was me letting you know they likely removed CHECKING PROMO to add the REFER FRD bonus, so pat on the back for both of us.

I hope others had better results.

The reason why I said it is probably only with people you referred is  William Charles didn’t allow anyone else besides you to post your referral info in this post. Sure other people may have emailed each other but I would figure that would be a very small number.

I wasn’t complaining at all about you posting here as it never hurts to notify people of possible issues. I was just saying that you and Svy didn’t provide all of the details.

I remember you pointing out that I did something similar in the Armed Forces post.

I was actually a little surprised when my 1099 was correct.

January 26, 2021 17:11

Yes, $300 is correct.

P2’s showed $600 on the 1099-INT… because they posted the “checking promo” $300, revoked it, then posted the $300 “refer frd” bonus on her account. For some reason, the revoke did not adjust the interest amount.

I have notifications for every thing. Every so often, I get random notifications of a “valid password for your login ID was submitted”, meaning someone signed into my account. Last one happened yesterday afternoon.

Are they watching me? Am I getting hacked? Are notifications being sent late or randomly? Maybe when they do updates, it automatically triggers these notifications? I just changed my password since I was annoyed of these random alerts which have only happened a few times. Probably should have done it a while ago.

Do you have Mint, Personal Capital, etc?… as they do periodically refresh your activity. Other than that… not sure. I don’t have every alert setup. Change your username (if they allow it) and password if you truly suspect it’s nefarious. However, they have to get past the MFA if it is someone on an unrecognized device, so I think the hack is unlikely.

It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s a delayed alert. I already discovered if you don’t log out properly the previous time you used online banking, it causes you to be logged out instantly the next time you try. (actually, that was a Redstone error I am thinking of… but probably the same here at Campus)

I don’t use any of the money management sites/apps however i now recall I have many other bank accounts linked to them. I believe the one that is linked via plaid may be setting off the alert randomly, even though that account doesn’t show the balance of Campus. I already changed my password regardless. Let’s see if it pops up again, and then I’ll unlink the plaid one.

You are onto something there. Some of those Plaid banks DO periodically update your external account balance. (I don’t believe all do though… but I probably have overlooked it)

OnJuno is one of them. I see my updated balance on the one bank that I linked there at OnJuno when I go to the Add Funds screen (home/add-money/bank-transfer). ieatdogfood arizonapv

I have SoFi linked to campus which doesn’t show the balance (only linked for account transfers, not Sofi’s money management system aka Relay). I should unlink it anyways since it wasn’t a promising fake DD source.

I get the opposite message that says someone tried logging in to my account with an invalid password. It is quite concerning. I already changed the password. Maybe there is a way to change the user ID. I’ll have to investigate. I get the same mesg occasionally for my Unify account and I closed that one ages ago. It’s a little annoying and concerning!

Well, Unify does not close out your online access when they close accounts. You might be able to call and request it, or system message. I just logged into mine. There is a fair amount of data someone could get if they are so inclined, couple statements, last year’s tax form with last 4 SSN.

However, multi-factor authentication is enabled, so the “hacker” would need access to your e-mail, or home or cell phone. So, it’s either an account link you set up at another bank trying to check your balance, a moron trying the wrong username, or a bad guy.

They do allow you to change your user name and password there. They would be able to see the IP address of the person making the attempt and might be able to identify what bank is trying, if that is the case. How much they are going to investigate on a closed about, probably nil?

I would imagine something bad will happen if you kept it locked too long, whether you needing immediate access to it for whatever reason or Campus putting it on permanent lock with you having to go in branch.
