Food Delivery Services & Starbucks Load Work For $250 American Express Hilton Aspire Credit, Reportedly

Reports indicate that food delivery services and Starbucks reload count to get credited under the $250 Hilton-turned-dining credit on the American Express Hilton Aspire card.

Here are a few data points on Reddit of things that work:

  • Doordash
  • UberEATS
  • Starbucks reload

And here are some that should work, according to what some have heard from Amex reps:

  • Grubhub
  • Postmates
  • Caviar
  • Chownow

The $250 Hilton credit on the Aspire card is able to be used at U.S. Restaurants from June 1 through August 31. Please share any other data points in the comments below.

DP: Bought a $10 Grubhub gift card in the Grubhub app on July 1 and didn’t trigger credit. (I had an Uber Eats order two days later and received the credit, so I knew I haven’t used up my credits yet.)

Has anyone not received a single credit? I made my first qualified purchase 6/3 and haven’t received any credits. All purchases show as earning 7x pts.

Are you sure you didn’t use the $250 Resort Credit already in your current card year? Remember, in case you upgraded from another Hilton card to the Aspire, the Resort Credit renews on your original card’s opening date, not on the anniversary of when you upgraded.

There’s one person below (Too Nashty) who reported not getting a credit yet, but they’ve haven’t yet replied to that question which I also posed to them several days ago.

This credit is only available to those who haven’t already received their full $250 Resort Credit in their current card year.

If that doesn’t explain it, then I suggest you log in to Amex online and start a chat with an Amex agent and ask them if they can explain it.

sdssearch or anyone else in the DOC community, can someone explain to me “upgrade date” vs original card’s opening date? I upgraded to the Aspire in early February, stayed in a Hilton resort on March 7th (got the $250 credit on March 10th), and then was charged my annual membership fee on March 26th as seen below:
Mar 26
Credit ADJUST MEMBERSHIP FEE-$62.39
Mar 26
RENEWAL MEMBERSHIP FEE $232.70

I understand that it is only $232.70 because it is pro-rated from my Surpass. And I assume the $62.39 credit is because I already paid my $95 Surpass annual fee.

My question is: since I paid my annual fee, does that mean that my $250 credit reset because its a new “reward” year/”membership” year”? Or am I still in my current term and hence I will NOT get the $250 for any restaurant purchases June thru August?

Anyone who can shed some light on this would be much appreciated, Amex CSR is really confused and I cannot get a straight answer.

Many thanks to all in advance!

Assuming you opened your Hilton card at Amex (ie, it wasn’t an account which Amex bought from Citi), look up the original opening date of your Hilton Amex card account on a credit report, for example for free at Credit Karma (use the Equifax column, since the TransUnion column may not show the opening date, but the Equifax column does show the opening date). The opening month and day of this credit card account is your resort credit renewal date every year. It may possibly be very close to when they billed your annual fee, but looking it up on your credit report should give you a more accurate month and day when you resort credit resets.

If it is indeed very close to your annual fee billing date (both now and when you had it as Surpass), then that’s a big clue that it’s right.

(I don’t know how a resort credit renewal date would be calculated for any Amex Hilton card accounts which were transferred from Citi Hilton card accounts, about two and half years ago when Citi stopped having Hilton cards and sold all open Hilton card accounts to Amex.)

In my case, I looked up my card opening date up on Credit Karma (in the Equifax column), and it was Oct 22, and voila, if I look at my Amex statement online for last year (when I got the full $450 annual fee billed), Oct 22 is date appearing next to ANNUAL RENEWAL FEE. So in that case they match exactly, but I’ve heard from some other people for whom it was a few days off I think.

So assuming that your credit report shows the card opened in late March, then I would say your resort credit should definitely have reset in late March. well enough after March 10.

But if you want to be absolutely sure, do one test purchase at a restaurant and wait (less than a week) to see if you get the credit. Since in your case you got last year’s resort credit as one single $250 credit on March 10 from what I understand, you can obviously now have only either a full $250 credit available (if your resort credit year reset since then) or absolutely $0 credit available (if your resort credit year reset earlier for some weird reason). nothing in between. So if you get the credit for a restaurant once, you should keep getting it (assuming the restaurant codes correctly) until you get to $250 or to the end of the promotion, whichever comes first.

There’s an Amex offer for Starbucks as well. Up to you to tempt the fates and try to trigger both

+1 on Starbucks reloads. Also have the Amex offer for 15% back and that didn’t trigger, although it should have per terms
