Free $50 eBay Coupon with Selling on eBay & How Anyone Can Do It

The Offer

Direct Link

eBay is sending out an offer to get a free $50 eBay coupon for selling four items on eBay. Items must be listed between January 8th and 18th, and they must sell by the 31st.

  • Sell one item and get a $5 eBay coupon
  • Sell two items and get a $15 eBay coupon
  • Sell three items and get a $30 eBay coupon
  • Sell four items and get a $50 eBay coupon

What’s especially interesting is that I checked out a second (spare) eBay account that was not targeted via email, and the offer showed up on the home screen when I logged in. It’s entirely possible that most of us will be eligible for this offer (although I imagine steady eBay sellers won’t be qualified).

To verify the offer is available for you, just go here when logged into your eBay account, click “Activate offer” and see if it accepts you.

The Fine Print

  • Must activate offer first
  • Coupon will come within two weeks after 1/31/16
  • Items must be sold and paid for by January 31
  • Valid only on listings made on January 8th or later  (excludes items already listed)

Why this is for everyone

My initial reaction to the offer was, ‘well, I don’t have four items to sell.’ But the truth is that this offer is for everyone: there is no minimum sell-amount mentioned in the offer terms. All you have to do is find four things that people will snatch up at 1¢ each.

Still struggling for ideas? Remember, eBay allows the sale of physical gift cards and coupons.

  • Sell a coupon for 1¢ and swallow the 49¢ stamp that it costs to mail it
  • Sell a $5 Walmart or Amazon gift card for $5 and swallow the 49¢ stamp

Rules for Selling Gift Cards on eBay

eBay has some special rules for gift card listings:

  • You can’t have more than one gift card listing up for sale at any given time.
  • Only physical gift cards can be sold.
  • Gift cards with a value of more than $500 can not be sold.
  • No selling Visa/Mastercard/Amex gift cards.

Since you can only do one gift card at a time, you’re going to want to find something that sells fast and then immediately list the next one. Remember, we only have until January 18th for the fourth gift card to be listed; if you’re doing all four items in the gift card category, you’ll have to get the first three sold before the 18th and the fourth one listed by then.

For more details on selling gift cards on eBay, please see the eBay section of The Complete Guide to Selling your Unwanted Gift Cards for Cash.

 Final Thoughts

In the end, there is some hassle in finding four items to sell or selling four $5 gift cards, but for the $50 eBay coupon, it sounds worthwhile to me. Personally, I’ll probably sell a few $5 or $1 gift cards and maybe a Chase savings coupon that I got.

Let us know any good ideas for manufacturing items to sell in the comments.

I received an email last night from eBay with my $50 coupon. The email includes a coupon code and states that it expires on February 8, 2016. It also says “Good for one-time use only. Coupon must be redeemed in a single transaction.” In the fine print, it also says “Only registered eBay members paying with PayPal can receive the discount” and “offer is not transferrable.” Guess I’ll be using this to purchase a gift card. (There is no mention of purchasing gift cards being prohibited.)

would like for folks to comment on when they receive their coupons. I always have a hard time with eBay making good on their promotions.

Do they have to be four separate transactions? I want to post an item with quantity of 4, bit I don’t know if it will be counted as one transaction if one person buys all 4.

For those who have this offer, there is a thread in slickdeals and you can create four different $1 listing and easily swap with others in that thread

I think my activated offers disappeared. I was able to click ‘Activate offer’ on 3 of four accounts, but none of them have it now. I guess there is always a possibility that I didn’t do it right.
