[Expired] Giant, Stop&Shop, Martin’s: 2x Fuel Points on Mastercard Gift Cards (3/27-4/2)

Deal has expired, view more Giant deals by clicking here

The Offer

Stop&ShopGiantMartin’s (not yet showing)

  • Giant/Stopandshop/Martin’s have an offer showing in their upcoming circular for March 27 – April 2nd:
    • Get 2x fuel points on the purchase Mastercard gift cards.

Gas Points Details

Every 100 points gets you 10¢ off per gallon at Shell, up to 20 gallons. If you have 1000 points, you’ll get $1 off. If you have 1500 points, you’ll get $1.50 off per gallon.

  • Max discount in some areas is $1.50. In other areas, there might not be any max.
  • You have 30 days to use the points. The day of purchase is Day #1. (Giant PA and Martins might expire at the end of the following month.)
  • Points can only be used at partner Shell stations. You can redeem the points in a different area from where you got the points, but only if that Shell station is a partner. Check out the gas locator for Stop & Shop and for Giant for exact listings of which Shell stations are included. (Giant PA and Martins might only be valid at their own gas stations.)
  • See the FAQ for more details. Some of the details vary by area and store.
  • Points usually are available immediately, but I’ve had on occasion where it took a day until they showed up and were usable.
  • Pro tip: Use a Shell gift card and you’ll usually get the cash price; it’s especially worthwhile to get the lower cash price when using fuel points.

Our Verdict

Not as good as the 3x deals they run. Please do not go to the store just for this deal, but I guess it’s OK to go if you need to pick up essential supplies anyway.

Hat tip to GC Galore

 Chuck
Deal is back in next week’s S&S ad (5/29-6/4) for 2x points on Mastercard GCs. There’s also a digital coupon advertised in the circular for 2x points on grocery purchase of $50+

Did the points post for anyone? I bought a couple of cards in the pink packaging today on a grocery run and got zero points. I am in giant landover territory if that matters.

yes. I bought the same exact one that looks like a shiny pink present. Are you sure you chose the Mastercard one? I have also noticed, it sometimes takes 10 mins or more to show up via app.

You’re right, thanks. The receipt showed that I earned nothing, but now I see that the points actually did post.

I’m tempted. Any MCGC issues still? I have to go to the stores anyways to get some essentials and food. It’s been over a year since I had a MCGC.

Of note, noticed the $200 MCGC’s picked up this week at Staples no longer have the in-package pins…. I’ve set new pins before using, and so far, no issues. Anybody else?

I thought if they didn’t have in-package pins, they were defaulted to the last 4 digits?

Only last month I was thirsting for gas points and now I have to dig holes in the ground with my own bare hands to make a storage tank for all the cheap gasoline that I cannot use.

I’ve been taking advantage of converting the Flexible Points to Grocery Savings instead of Gas Points since I have plenty of gas too. They have been a PITA to use though if you want to maximize the deals.

I’ve been thinking the same thing….. Have 5,400 Martin’s points from previous deals already (which do NOT expire til end of next month — and will combine) With gas around here already under $1.45 a gallon (and further major drops to come with today’s news), I’m looking closer at the Martin’s cash out options and promotions. (including for example for Easter Hams)

PS: imho, only “thing” that will save gas/oil prices would be a war in the Persian Gulf. (Yet as much as Pompeo, Hook & co had been doing their best to gin one up — note the news about US carriers and the coronavirus….. further taking the air out of the oil balloon….. next up, $20 a barrel….. astounding.)

I’m not sure about Martins but for Giant Food, Grocery Savings points can only be redeemed exclusively in the Grocery category. Ham is meat so it wouldn’t be eligible. Hence the PITA of these points to be only used on non-perishable (mostly) junk food.

Literally just bought ham and chicken with grocery points, so that’s not true. In my experience, grocery dollars work for all items in store except wine and milk, even razors. This is my experience in Giant PA and Martins PA.

anyone know if S&S in NJ also allows to use points on non-gas items? How do you know if your store/account is allows it? Is it something you can see in your online account?

Oh, well I had a totally opposite experience at Giant Food of Landover (Maryland). These programs are confusing with the same parent company but different subsidiaries and different rules.

I stand corrected and you are right. Grocery Savings points will work on almost everything. I was misled because it appears i can not redeem points right before I checkout. I have to do it in advance since the system does not update that fast.
