[Expired] Giant, Stop&Shop, Martin’s: 3x Fuel Points on Visa Gift Cards (5/14-5/20)

Deal has ended, view more Giant deals by clicking here.

Update 5/14/21: Stack with 10% Chase Offer.

The Offer

Stop&ShopGiantMartin’s

Giant/Stopandshop/Martin’s have an offer showing in their upcoming circular for May 14 – May 20:

  • Get 3x fuel points on the purchase Visa gift cards.

Gift cards generally don’t earn fuel points at all at Giant/S&S/Martin’s, but occasionally they release offers like this to get points on gift card purchases.

Gas Points Details

Every 100 points gets you 10¢ off per gallon at Shell, up to 20 gallons. If you have 1000 points, you’ll get $1 off. If you have 1500 points, you’ll get $1.50 off per gallon (max $1.50 discount in most). Points can be used at partner Shell locations.

Points are now usable on groceries as well, with a value of 100 points equaling a $1 discount.

  • You have 30 days to select whether you want to use the points on gas or groceries, then 30 days to actually use them.
  • See the FAQ for more details. Some of the details vary by area and store.
  • Points usually are available immediately, but I’ve had on occasion where it took a day until they showed up and were usable.

Our Verdict

Given that points can be used to discount groceries as well these deals are more widely useful. Use a card that earns a bonus at the grocery.

Note, many SS/Giant stores have implemented a $2,000 limit in gift card purchases each day (previously the limit was $5,000). They also require putting it all on a single card. Also note that some SS/Giant stores now only award points for the first purchase of the deal, so be sure to buy the full $2,000 worth in a single transaction.

I am in NJ and didn’t get points from 2nd purchase 🙁
I tested it without only $500. And my member # does show on receipt.
Last time a few weeks ago multiple trips worked fine.

Thanks. If your membership# is now shown, then you won’t get point automatically for sure. Still look for DP for the 2nd trip. I need to decide whether I can make another purchase tomorrow. Many thanks!

Me too, no points on 2nd purchase same day here on Nantucket. Received points for 1st purchase only. Lesson learned. Will use another account for 2nd purchase going forward.

Anyone has DP stacking this with the chase 10% back offer? I bought VGCs at S&S using my CFU with 10% back offer, but havent seen any change on the offer section of my acct. Never targeted for chase offers before, so was wondering how it works if succefully redeemed.

I purchased 3 x $500 Visa gift card in one transaction and the points were not credited to my account after 24 hours. So I went back to the store and asked them to credit the points back. Only did I find out that there was a 1 offer per household and 1500 points were credited to me.
I live in MA.
Should have read the terms more carefully. 🙁

strange. 1500 pts was credited by the system? That was not the case for me. I got all pts in a single transaction.

I know. Long time ago I experienced that the point didn’t add to the account automatically but it didn’t happen for a while. I tried to figure it out at the App and clicked the Go Rewards Upgrade button but error message came out. Probably because I already joined the Go Rewards Program and have been converting it to gas point.
The cashier saw the household limit and only credited 1500 points. I missed the restriction myself so no point to argue.
Bad luck!?

Ok. That makes sense. 1500 pts was added by the cashier. You can just sign up a new account and use it afterwards. You should be able to get the all pts added automatically.

did $2000 and points added almost immediately. Look for the dp for points from 2nd purchase.

I read during an earlier deal that if you buy a grocery item in the same transaction, points should show up in the receipt. Gift card only purchases it does not show up (maybe because the system stupidly thinks that they do not give points).

In MA and was told they can only do $1500 and not $2000. Hoping they’re not lowering it again but I can’t really test because I don’t really care to make another S&S account since it seems 1 transaction of points is enforced

Made a purchase of 3x $500 at one Giant store and then the same at a second Giant store. Ad in Maryland doesn’t say anything about limiting it to the first purchase. As usual, the points did not show on the receipts but posted to my account about 20-25 minutes after each purchase.

Did it today and the card can not be scanned in solution center but input my phoner number. Got 3x points. And for grocery and gas redeeming, both limit are 2000 points, $20 grocery dollars or $2 off per gallon.

For grocery dollars, just cash out over multiple visits.

It says $2 a gallon, but when you go to the pump, you can only redeem $1.50/gallon.
