[YMMV] Stop&Shop/Giant Adds New $2,000 Limit To Fuel Points Deals

Update 10/21/21: It seems they’ve now changed this from one transaction per member to $2,000 per member. Image below. That’s actually an improvement since you anyway can’t buy more than $2,000 of gift cards in transaction. So basically, you can now do the $2,000 per week broken up in separate transactions (at least according to the wording of the terms), whereas until now you could only do one transaction (max $2,000) to earn points per week. Hat tip to reader Jim

(As before, all of these changes are only showing at select stores/chains, not others; some people might still be able to buy many times $2,000 and get points on all of them. What I see is Stopandshop as having the $2,000 limit and Giant/Martin’s not showing any limitations, but it might depend on location.)

Original Post 4/15/21:

There’s been some talk about a new verbiage in the terms of Stop&Shop, Giant, Martin’s deals which states:

Limit one (1) gift card rewards offer per household.

Sounds like you’ll only get points on a single purchase, so be sure to buy the full $2,000 in a single transaction. If you split it up or if you come back again to utilize the same deal, you might not get any points at all. When a new deal comes out, you can do it again as your limit gets reset.

Multiple readers report this is now actually being enforced, at least in some places and on some fuel points deals. It might depend on the deal and/or the location as to whether this limit applies. Let us know your experiences in the comments below.

I’ve never has problems doing multiple purchases per week. I’ve never tried to spend more than $2000 a week, so I don’t know about that aspect. This is for S&S stores in the Greater NYC area.

Yes, i can confirm the imit has been imposed for S&S for a while. A few weeks back there was a glitch when everyone had to call to have the points added. I made two separate purchases, and the agent had to check the limit before she can add the points/

The $2,000 weekly limit has been in S&S terms since at least June or July. So not overly “new” development for that store. I’m not too sure about the other chains though.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago with the MC GC deal. When I bought my 5th card of the week, no points showed up.

True, there were issues of points not posting, as there have been in the past. I experienced this myself last week and, as in the past, called Giant customer service and they posted the points to my account. Not sure if we definitively say right now that they have changed policy or not.

No limits on GiantFoodStores PA ads. Giantfoods and giantfoodstores and S&S are 3 different branches of Giant group.

Offer is back again for Visa cards starting 5/14. It will be interesting to see how it is implemented this time.

So for the future, it looks like up to 2 transactions of 1500 each max should work. I don’t see myself going beyond those limits but should be the rule of thumb for high flyers going forward.
