[Dead] Giftcardmall: $500 Visa Gift Card for $491 Shipped

Welp that didn’t last long. Dead again.

This was supposed to end yesterday and it briefly went out of stock. There is still stock available though so I’m reposting.

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • Giftcardmall is offering 3% off 5-Back Visa Gift Cards.

A $500 Five-Back Visa Gift card costs just $485 + $5.95 activation fee; total cost is $490.95 shipped. If you buy numerous cards in one order there might be a shipping assessed due to more secure shipping methods.

The Fine Print

  • Valid December 18th – 20th
  • Limited quantity

Our Verdict

These are funny Visa cards which offer 5% back at select retailers. Regardless, they still function like ordinary Visa gift cards and can be spent down anywhere, maybe they’ll even work as debit cards at select locations for PIN-based transactions.

Go through a shopping portal for an additional 1% back; hopefully it’ll stack with this deal. Ebates excludes Visa gift cards, but Topcashback includes it at 1% cash back. (If you’re new to a shopping portal, consider using our referral links to signup.)

Pretty crazy deal if you can get in on it. Some people like myself aren’t able to order anything from Giftcardmall since their system doesn’t allow it.

Can you explain what makes this a “crazy deal”? It’s just a free $9, right?

Don
Don

That’s almost a 2% return. You can combine that with a credit card for higher returns. Makes MS even more profitable.

I am new to MS. Can I use my Chase Sapphire Reserve Card or any new Chase cards that I have obtained? Will this work with those cards?

William Charles

Being able to buy a Visa gift card and making a profit before you even take into account normal credit card rewards is very very good and rare.

Alex
Alex

Yeah but it no longer works on any 5% or even 3% credit cards. I suppose you can get $10 from Citi Double Cash. Plus from $5 from portals. So let’s roundup and calling that $25 profit. Or 5%. Than you have to liquidate it somehow, and that can be either easy but costly at about 2.5% Leaving you like $12.50, or cheap but a PITA. Either way I am not seeing anything compelling here when you add and subtract both time and costs

William Charles

Deal isn’t for everybody, but for some people it’s really good. If it’s not for you move onto the next deal =)

Lol 0% liquidation method.

I thought I was the only one here standing with valid Serve cards ) because I never used them for churning. (i use them for Amex offers occasionally)

But I suppose some people are still surviving waves of Serve shutdown and make out like bandits =)

Just called GCM and they said that this promotion is for the holiday. They do not have a specific date when it will expire. However, today is 20th and the deal is still there.

Yea doesn’t seem like anything to get too excited about. Without a 5x opportunity, this seems like more hassle than it’s worth.

Really? I just bought $3,000 worth of VGCs for $2,945.70. I’ll get $60 back from my Double Cash and another $29.46 from Topcashback. About a $140 profit after MO fees for a few mins worth of work.

these GCM posts really annoy me. I can never complete the check out

I know, me too. It keeps telling me my payment was declined or my info was entered wrong. Called my cc company, everything looks fine on their end, though they see the charge reverse. Wth?

Thanks. Trying to meet minimum spend and these are great. Last time I checked out as a guest, got confirmation email, no shipment confirmation but did receive the cards. Let’s wait and see what kind of adventure they have for us this time around.

can these be liquidated for MO at Giant?

3 orders in, on 4th I got “There was a problem processing your order. Please try again or feel free to contact us for support.” Not sure if banned or dead deal.

You were likely just cut off for now. Wait 24 hours and try again.

DSP

haha, I think in 2.4 hours this will be dead… but thanks, will try again tomorrow if still alive.

JS

That’s true. In general, though, trying again in 24 hours has worked for me, no matter the GCM deal.

How much did you order each time? I just did x8 in one order. Did the same a week or two ago that they had this same offer… Seems to have gone through. I am just wondering what the limits are.

No matter what I do, or what option I press or how many cards I try to buy, I get this message:

“This transaction was not completed. The transaction was not submitted correctly, or has been declined by your card issuer. You can try again with a different card or review your payment information for any necessary corrections.”

No messages or calls from Chase so this is on GCM’s side. Bullshit website, always has been. Great for those that get it to work for them, consider yourself lucky!

I guess so, I don’t have the patience to explore them or Google search and dig thru counless bs posts just to find a needle in a haystack using code words to explain how to game GCM. This is just for fun, like bitcoin. And wasting time on stuff that doesn’t work is no fun.

I was getting this when I first started making purchases so I called GCM and the rep tried getting me to clear cookies/cache/etc but the thing that finally ended up working was switching browsers entirely. Might not hurt if you haven’t tried it yet!

Yeah I would get that in chrome but then changed to Internet Explorer and it worked.

I am getting the same message. I’ve tried different cards but to no avail.

I’m in the same boat. I just verified that I can buy at cost, but as soon as I try to buy on promo, orders get cancelled or I cannot complete transaction. I think I’m not on some whitelist for these promos.

Looks like I failed, ha ha…

“For security reasons, your account has been temporarily locked. Please contact customer service for assistance.”

These motherfuckers… They wouldn’t even sell me (1) x 500 card. I’ve probably purchased 10 from the over the last 3 years, not abuse in any way. Eh, you win some sometimes you lose some.

So I made my first GCM order from the sale a few weeks ago, and the card never arrived… it showed up in my USPS Informed Delivery digest but wasn’t delivered with the other mail slated for that day. I called GCM and they basically told me to wait since it was still inside the delivery window, meanwhile USPS claims the mail shown may still arrive late. My mailman said he never saw that specific piece of mail (and I have a camera that can see the mailbox, nobody got to it after it was delivered). GCM gave me a support ticket and told me they’d get in contact with me. That was about 4 business days ago, and I haven’t heard from them nor have I gotten the ticket.

Tomorrow I’m gonna call them to either get a new one re-sent or just cancel that transaction. There’s a blog out there that talked about a nightmare situation of getting their cards refunded, I really hope that hasn’t happened here. I also hope that card hasn’t been used; if it has, it definitely wasn’t me.

Alex
Alex

See that’s what I am talking about. One thing to get through the hoops for a large bonus. Another is to play with large sum of money with many variables for little profit.

It’s like playing with fire, some people like it but given the time and effort and risk I cannot see how it can makes sense to do that just for the money. Unless people can somehow scale that up without getting banned. For an odd, $10 here and there, the only explanation I could find is people must love the rush of it and not really care as much about profit. I on the other hand constantly fret something may go wrong and it’s just too painful to engage in this unless there’s REAL money to be made.

Curmudgeon
Curmudgeon

How much do you need to make to think it’s worthwhile? I’m going to net about $500 on my order and I can cash them out in a day at various locations as I run my errands. The only extra time I’ll spend is the time waiting in line.

This might cost me an extra hour or two over a day, so $250-$500/hour. It’s not blogger money, but it will buy a few burgers. 😀

Alex
Alex

Wow! Even assuming zero cost to liquidate and a generous $25 profit per card, that’s 20 cards you were able to order! Or a cool 10 grand !

I respect that (especially since you were able to pull that through somehow), but my hand would be shaking carrying that kind of “unsecured assets” (that is if someone snatches from my hands I am a SOL losing 3 months of my wages just like that) And there’s other things that can go wrong, like in the mail etc… that I like love volume , high profit “games” instead. But to each its own

Curmudgeon
Curmudgeon

I’ve walked around with 40k in cards before. 🙂

I don’t bring attention to myself and don’t flash the cards. I suppose it helps that I’ve been told I scare people.

First time ever purchasing any gift cards online. I did two in one order 500×2. Order says pending. We’ll see what happens. Thanks for tip!

Wowwwwwww, just bought 6 and had zero expectations but order somehow went through……….Now…..how to liquidate these?

Are they PIN enabled? Would work to load Serve/BB at WM?

How bout MO at WM/Grocery stores?

I bought the same cards in an Office Depot promo a few months back. Was able to liquidate with a MO at Wally World.

Just bought 6 so it better still work!

Forgot to mention that they are pin enabled with the last four numbers of the card number being the PIN

How fast do they usually ship? I won’t be available over the holiday period and don’t want to risk gift cards lying in mail.

Curmudgeon
Curmudgeon

If you choose the slow and free shipping, it will take a couple of weeks for them to process and ship it out. My order said it would ship on the 22nd so I’ll have them before the end of the year and probably a few days before.

Trippy
Trippy

Thanks!

Are these cards activated already?

Eduard
Eduard

Yeah. They come activated.

Adam

Curm, do you know if going the free ship route – will the charges post when the item processes/ships, possibly next month? or will the charge post now? basically trying to get some year end bonus spend done. so I need this charge to post before the year ends. never dealt w GCM before so not sure how they operate.

I’d appreciate some info if anyone can share a DP on when charges post esp wrt to the shipping speed you choose.

Curmudgeon
Curmudgeon

They should bill your card within a day or so.

I had an order on 11/27, card charged 11/28. Another order on 12/7 had card charged on 12/8.

Don’t think you’ll have any problems with it posting before year end.

Curmudgeon
Curmudgeon

Also chose super slow free shipping on both orders.

Adam

thanks, good to know for the future. but dang, meanwhile guess I paid extra for shipping for no reason. atleast order got approved.

I just placed an order but the page froze and I never got confirmation from GCM and don’t see the order in my account. But I see the charge on my Amex. Trying to call them right now

Richard

I remembered 2 weeks ago, I ordered 8 on one order and all went pending when they had same sale, then 6 hours later, was cancelled without any reason. When I tried to order just one card to test it whether I am banned, it went through and received one card about 8 days later. So am not sure why some can order 10. Some can only order 1? Some can never even able to order?
