There are several GPay accounts in my household, but I only received the offer on my account. It was easy enough to activate an offer since I was already enrolled in the rewards program, but linking a bank account via Plaid proved to be a bit more difficult. I had to attempt to link several different bank accounts of mine before one of them finally triggered the completion of the offer.

So, if you can’t get the green check mark to come up after linking your bank account via Plaid, try another one to see if that works. Some bank accounts of mine linked fine but didn’t satisfy the requirement for the offer, while others wouldn’t link at all. However, once I got my M1 Finance checking account linked, the green check mark appeared immediately and I got the $10 in my account almost instantly. Good thing I didn’t give up, haha!

The offer showed as expiring 27 Dec in my gpay app. Linked account today and received the cashback.

Just did this offer now – balance took about 30 minutes to update. Had previously linked a bank account for a prior offer, though that account was subsequently closed, and the now-defunct Plaid link was removed recently. But was still targeted for this offer.

Linked a now-unused HMBradley credit card using a new set of app credentials (avoids leaking your actual credentials and supposedly provides only limited read-only access that can be easily revoked).

Activating the offer enrolls all credit cards in google pay to their own Rewards network, likely removing it from Rakuten Dining and other Hilton, AA, JEtblue Dining etc programs

I enrolled in this program last year, it didn’t interfere with those other networks.

I find the whole idea of giving bank login credentials to 3rd parties to be just too ripe for problems to consider.

I keep old MS/Bonus accounts that are linked to none of my other banks and that have a zero balance for these types of things.

I am not sure that Plaid even stores user name/password, the concern for most is that they are scraping personal information from your bank accounts. You are not only granting them access to transaction history, but any other personal information they can pull from the system. This is why most lawsuits against Plaid are not regarding user names/passwords but what they are doing with people’s personal data.
