[HI only] Create Southwest Rapid Rewards Account – Get 5,000 Points [Update: Points Deducted]

Update 6/10/19: Points have been automatically deducted from all accounts, you now need to e-mail SWAaloha@wnco.com by July 31st, 2019 (wnco is an e-mail domain that Southwest frequently uses).

The Offer

No direct link to offer, account creation page is here

  • New customers that create a Southwest Rapid Rewards account for the first time with an address in Hawaii are being awarded a 5,000 point sign up bonus

The Fine Print

  • Limit one per household
  • Log out/in to see the points

Our Verdict

Somewhat strange that Southwest is offering this bonus but not advertising it. I guess it’s to try and encourage those in Hawaii to sign up due to Southwest flying there now. Yesterday we saw the sign up bonuses on the Chase Southwest cards increased to to 60,000 points as well. Anyway, this is a fantastic deal if you live in Hawaii and don’t already have a Southwest account. You can always redeem 4,050 points for a $25 gift card if you have no intention of ever flying Southwest, although you’ll find the points much more valuable if you do fly Southwest.

I feel like this is like the first time ever for Hawaii residents only deal but I can’t believe I signed up for Rapid Rewards back in March when Southwest started flying here!!

Does the system detect duplicated accounts?

What would you lose if it does detect duplicate accounts?

5000 points

If the system gives you 5000 pts and you use them for a ticket, then found your account and ticket cancelled when you arrive at the airport..

If you’re not in HI, just use Address Generation website or app to create an account with a new email address. Log out, then log back in and change your address. You can then change your address so you can receive gift cards, if you opt that route. Or if you want the points, you can transfer them to an existing Rapid Rewards account for $50.

This is why we can’t have nice things. Deal will be dead in no time. We know people will do this, but not necessary to post ways to ruin the deal.

well then, don’t forget to sign up Player 2 and the kids

Does anybody know if the points are instant? Just tried to use a Hawaii zip code and state (not from Hawaii) but got no points. Worth a shot as some banks only verify address by zipcode. Unless SW is taking their sweet time on this one, looks like this trick won’t work 🙁

Yes. They’re instant.

I take that back. Looks like a nice log-in/out did it for me

Thanks. Yay.

I enrolled Mom. She doesn’t have an account. My sister and my accounts have not been used in five years but it looks like they’re still there.

it worked! thanks DOC! finally i had a reason to sign up for a southwest account 😛

interesting DP for you:
-i signed up with my home address (Oʻahu) and got the 5000 points promotion; initially on the top right it showed “0 points” but after signing up, i went to my account and then recent activity and have the 5000 points “registration bonus”.
-my mom signed up for an online account (same Oʻahu home address) but she didnt get the promotion; I looked at her account and it says “Member since 2008”, so she had a rewards number since then but didn’t have an online account.
-my aunty (lives on Hawaiʻi island) signed up for an account and didn’t get the bonus even though hers says “Member since 2019”. not sure why, all 8 islands are part of Hawaiʻi.

added DP: now it looks like the promotion is not working. my wife and dad signed up (same address as mine) and nobody received 5,000 points. not sure why mine went through but theirs didn’t but will try calling the airline later after work.

Same thing happened to my friend. He signed up and got the 5k points, then he signed up his wife who lives at the same address and she didn’t get the 5k points. Maybe a restriction of one bonus per address. I’d try signing up with a different address first, and then changing it to the address of choice later. Btw do I get a h/t William Charles?

Update: my friend’s wife just got her points too.

Didn’t seem to work for my friend and I. We’ve tried signing up with a Honolulu Address on May 3, ~9:45AM

I signed up Joe Blow, Jane Doe, and their 48 cousins. They’re all in Hawaii, you know. All in all, 250,000 southwest points. Who’s to say I can’t convince them to let me use the points?

Anybody having issues redeeming points for gift cards? Keep erroring out when I try to add a $25 gift card to my basket.

3 accounts. First one got points, other two did not. I even tried using a Hawaii proxy server on the third one… no dice yet

30 accounts here, got points on 8. Seems even legit people applying for their first time aren’t getting their 5k. Somethings wonky.

Basically theft.

I applied with my Hawaii PO Box and did not get any points. I called costumer service and they told me you cant use a PO Box. They changed it to my physical address and they informed me it would take up to 72 hours. If not, call back and they will fix. this was on 3 May, no points as of 6 May. Ill give it a couple more days.
