Our Verdict

Previous best offer was 125k points + $100. I’d say that this new offer is better for the vast majority of people. I always find using single night free certificates to be a bit of a pain, but given that this is mostly unrestricted it’s not too bad and can be useful for a weekend away. The bonus has increased on the Surpass card to the same offer as well. As always if you have any questions, read this post about American Express cards first. Also in general American Express doesn’t match sign up bonuses, but you can sometimes get courtesy points. I very much doubt they will offer a courtesy free night certificate if you recently applied, but asking never hurts.
