Hyatt Extends Status For Some Customers

Some Hyatt members have reported seeing their elite status extended until 2023 when it was previously due to expire in 2022. Hyatt had previously announced an extension to elite status until 2022 due to the pandemic, but this is in addition to that extension. At the moment only some members are seeing this extension (even with no stays) whereas others are not. It’s unclear if eventually this extension will be for all members or if it’s for selected members and how those members have been selected.

Discoverist “Valid through Feb 28, 2023”. My last stay was one night in July 2020. The only “nights” I have this year is 5 nights from the credit card.

And thanks for reminding me to check my Hyatt account, I had forgotten that one of my awards is still valid but expires Dec 31 2021.

You only needed 5 nights this year to requalify for Discoverist.

So are you saying this extension is automatic for everyone who has a Chase World of Hyatt credit credit, which gives 5 elite nights each renewal?

In any case, it’s sort of irrelevant for such people (assuming they don’t stay enough to earn a higher level), because the Chase World of Hyatt credit card gives Discoverist status automatically, even in years when it requires more than 5 elite nights.

So in my case, since I don’t plan to get rid of this card (it’s worth it to me for the annual free night cert alone), but I don’t stay at a lot at Hyatts (I travel more often to smaller cities near national parks/monuments and such where there often are no Hyatts).

The Chase WOH credit card automatically confers Discoverist status even in normal years regardless of nights stayed.

Turned globalist a few months ago. I see mine extended to 2023. Thank god!

If you turned globalist a few months ago, you were extended status to Feb 2023 a few months ago.

Extensions for myself and P2 until 2023. Sadly, we’re Discoverists as we weren’t in a spot to do the spend earlier this year to get Explorist so it doesn’t really matter anyway :/

I noticed this a couple weeks ago and assumed they extended my explorist status. Then I remembered you only need 15 nights this year and I already hit that. So I guess I just earned it lol

Especially the lounge awards, since they’re pretty much impossible to use right now
