Our Verdict

To get the most value out of this promotion you’ll want to try to find items that are as close to $1 as possible. Most places do not accept contactless payments at the moment but you can see merchants that do by using Isis’ tool found here. Here are some ideas of how people have been using this promotion:

  • Dollar menu at McDonald’s
  • Vending machine
  • Use self check out at register and do one item at a time
  • Split payments, ask your cashier if they can split payment over a number of transactions. This will require a patient cashier, please do not do it when there is a line.

We haven’t seen any shutdowns of people abusing this, but obviously do this at your own risk. I value access to my ISIS Serve account highly due to it’s potential for manufactured spending and I don’t want to risk that, as such I won’t be only using contact less payments on a bunch of $1 items.

If you haven’t already, make sure you also get your $50 bonus for doing two direct deposits of $250 or more.

Is the direct deposit bonus you speak of good only once or can it be repeated every month?

William,

Above you mentioned “I value access to my ISIS Serve account highly due to it’s potential for manufactured spending and I don’t want to risk that, as such I won’t be only using contact less payments on a bunch of $1 items”

On another page (great, by the way) you explain what deals you are doing per date. I noticed you are doing a number of $1 payments with your ISIS, at least over the last few months I think for $50 each month. Was wondering, what made you change your mind and what type of ISIS location are you using, whether vending, direct cashier, etc. Thanks.

My iPhone 5 does not have NFC. Do I need to get an Android phone with an NFC chip to make this work?

this offer requires you the cashier to enter a code right? how do you do that at self-checkout?

Nope, just use Isis with Serve card selected as payment source and the $1 will show up.

It shows up anywhere from minutes to days after you buy something. Vending machines tend to post two or three days later so don’t wait until late in the month!

5th purchase is free up to $5 value with vending machines. Or maybe after 5th next is free. One thing I’ve noticed, $0 vending purchase (if the Coke machine is sold out of real Cokes, foe example) are often counted towards that 5th (or whatever) free. I had 3 where it failed to complete transaction (very weak wifi network) and they counted. At the same time, if your free purchase fails you don’t get another try.

Some machines limit you to 1 free item, others let you go up to $5, which is three items for my vending options.

The cashier entering the code thing is with the Coke rewards, not worth the troubles this point.

Walgreen’s take Isis in my area, always an easy option.
