JAL has announced that it will be increasing fuel surcharges for tickets booked in May and June “due to fuel prices rising to an abnormally high level”. Looks like almost a 100% increase on most routes. ANA will also be increasing fuel surcharges by similar amounts.
Previously both airlines had announced that fuel surcharges would be increasing in June, so that has been brought forward a month earlier. Suspect we will see more and more airlines adding these fuel surcharges if the situation regarding fuel doesn’t improve soon.
While I know this situation is inherently political let’s try to keep the comments from devolving into attacks on different parties where nobody changes their mind and everybody screams into the void. Please also remember to follow the comment rules.
