The Offer
Check your Kroger coupons for the following offers:
- Save the digital coupon to get 4x fuel points on Visa and Mastercard fixed-value gift cards this weekend 2/16/2018-02/18/2018
Our Verdict
The standard deal at Kroger is 2x fuel points on gift card purchases, and they’ll occasionally release offers for 4x. Usually, every 1000 fuel points will get you a discount of $1 per gallon with a 35-gallon limit, a max value of $35 per 1000-points, though these details do vary by store and region.
You can also get free cell phone service with Kroger when you earn fuel rewards points. There’s also a gift card coupon to get $5 off when buying two BJ’s Restaurant gift cards totaling $25 or more.
Hat tip to @telewatcr
Maybe they pulled it already, but not seeing the coupon for Fry’s (mid-day on the 18th)
I’d suggest marking this YMMV. In my store (Fred Meyer) they don’t give points for the fixed VGC at all, so 4x zero is zero, even though they still offer the 4x coupon. They even have a little sign hanging above the GCs saying they don’t earn points.
I tried to use the 4x coupon last time around and got zip. After a call to the rewards dept they gave me the pts as a one-time credit but they made it clear that it wasn’t going to happen again.
Do Kroger stores accept mobile payment (android, apple or chase)?
not at my store but I read somewhere that there’s a pilot program going on.
Store staff thought Samsung Pay might work. Those that you list are nogo AFIK and I tried Android Pay and Chase Pay a couple of weeks ago.
Buying ten $100 GC sounds really expensive due to the high fees and it’s a bitch to buy MOs with with ten cards. Is this really worth it or am I missing something here?
It’s not a great deal, but every bit can help.
My car holds 17.6 gallons, and let’s just say gas costs $2.25 a gallon. So 17.6*2.25 = $39.6. Assuming 1000 fuel points ($1.00 off a gal for a fill-up), would mean 17.6*1.25 = $22. So a $17.6 difference.
So, with a 4x fuel points earning promo, I’d buy 3x $100 GC for 1200 fuel points, and pay $5.95*3 = $17.8. I’d get 2% back on the $300 from CC rewards, so essentially a $6 benefit.
I mostly think of these promos as a less suspicious way to meet minimum spend requirements than through a gift card website. However, spending $1k+ at a grocery store is a bit suspicious in it’s own way (unless it’s a grocery store that sells liquor).
But you’re not spending $1K, you are spending (in your example) $317.8. The OP is confusing 1000 fuel points with spending $1000. You really only have to spend $250 to get 1000 fuel points.
Take your GF and fill her car at the same time. You’ll earn $20 in brownie points which are often worth much more than UR or MR points.
Why don’t I see this?
Hasn’t gone live in all areas yet is my guess
