got check for closure
Took a while. Got the closure email and the check will be sent to the address on file.
Yeah they’re saying not eligible for the promotion but it wasn’t a specific requirement when the offer page was up. I understand that the intent was to be an employee of an organization but after the fact they want to change the terms. Seems a little crazy!
are you gonna close it out
Yes I did after thinking through it some more. Seems like an honest mistake on their part but figured it was worth a chance to sign up. On to the next one!
I got auto approved for P1 like last Friday. Got a phone call today with them asking to review a few questions. One of which was whether or not I was employed at the specific organization. I assumed they’d be able to verify if I’m honest or not. I said no and they said they can still proceed with opening the account but they could not honor the promotion. The rep was super nice about the whole thing. I’ll walk away at the very least being able to charge $500 to my new CC for the minimum. They said they’d mail cashier checks for any accounts being closed. P2 wasnt auto approved so I just had them cancel that one as well. Check will be sent between a week or two.
Got a welcome email from them. No phone call about a closure. If it wasn’t for the “good standing” clause I might stay and see what happens. Time to move on to the next one.
Just got a call from Wichita, KS. She asked me if I want to keep the account and I said yes because I was able to fund $750 max with credit card (helped me out with bonus spending requirements).
I got the call this morning, sounds like they’re auto-closing all accounts unless you’re an employee of the intended mental health organization.
I signed up and got approved earlier today. Now, just waiting to see if they pull the rug on me.
Just got the call from Wichita, I opted to close the account and get my $25 back. Not really interested in a new account without the $300 bonus.
They’ve removed the link
I wouldn’t suggest anyone do this. Got instant approval this morning and about 5 minutes ago got a call that the promo is only valid for people employed by some mental health association of South Central Kansas. They’ll be closing my account and mailing me the $25 opening deposit back…
Already dead? Going to do P2. Not now.
I sent a message to Fidelity C.S. to ask if this offer is available to everyone. The rep replied “If I may ask, how did you hear about this promotion? I do apologize, but this promotion is only valid for employees of the Mental Health Association of South Central Kansas”. I replied that a friend email me the link to the promo.
Those who just opened their account can decide to stay and fight for the bonus, but I told them to close my account.
Spacebarzzz
Dang, bummer. I haven’t heard from them yet but sounds like the call is coming. Probably not worth the fight, although the terms stated nothing about the Mental Health Association.
They are bound by the terms they published, not by their intent. They made a mistake by leaving out that qualification but legally it doesn’t matter. They can’t (legally) deny you the bonus if you follow the published terms to the letter.
There’s a reasonable chance they’ll honor the terms they published. If not, you won’t have the CFPB to back you but there are other inexpensive means of fighting back like reviews on social media.
The opportunity cost of following through on the terms is very low for this bonus. Probably worth keeping it if you got approved and you’ve got screenshots.
