Marriott Offering Anniversary Bonuses To Elite Members (100-750 Points)

Marriott has started sending out e-mails to elite members wishing them a Happy Member-versary. As part of the e-mail Marriott is also giving members a small gift. The gift varies by your status level:

  • Silver: 100 points
  • Gold: 200 points
  • Platinum: 300 points
  • Titanium: 500 points
  • Ambassador: 750 points

I can kind of understand the small point bonuses for silver/gold and even platinum status to a lesser degree but Titanium status requires 75 nights in a calendar year and I can’t imagine those people being happy receiving a 500 point bonus. Personally if I had that many stays (or the 100 and $20,000 spend required for Ambassador) I think I’d just prefer to not receive the e-mail at all.

Can confirm Silver is 100 points.

it’s the thought that counts?

No. Try giving your wife/husband/gf/bf only a card on their bd and see how that strategy works

Hey, hey! You have to give them 500 points too!

It’s the count that thought…

There is no thought involved. It is pretty much automated spam, just like those automated holiday ecards that companies send out. Just a waste of time.

Oh I thought that was real humans sending me happy thoughts every time. My bad. Well that changes everything…. 8-)>

Yeah, Arne Sorensen is writing the emails himself. Every night.

Platinum for 6 years, 400 nights with spg/marriott, got 300 points. At first I thought it was a joke, but then realized I got #Bonvoyed a.k.a bamboozle.

They really cannot get out of their own way. What a joke.

I’m dust bunny under a Marriott bed status (Silver via spg card) and got 100 points.

While we are discussing Marriott; I logged in to check and see if I received the rewards, and I did (YAY!). However I wanted to ask about status. I see that lifetime status is lifetime nights + years at status. Does that mean I have to have Plat Elite status for 10 years + 600 nights to be lifetime Plat Elite? OR do I just have to have any status level and after 10 years + 600 nights I get lifetime Plat Elite? How can I check how many years I have had status? Thanks!

“at” status.

It’s 10 years at Plat status to get lifetime Plat.

Also your gifted an Elite night on your Birthday (if its in your profile) – I had to make a quick call to CS.

This helps if your Elite Gold from a CC and your pushing to hit 50 nights – it means you only need 34 Nights or Credits to earn Platinum. As Gold isn’t worth what it was per-merger.

But then I have to stay 34 nights at a Marriott 😉

I agree that 500 points is offensive. I’d prefer an email without any points (over an offensive number of points) or nothing at all.

Sometimes I wonder what these companies are thinking…

Less points than they were handing out last year to correctly copy someone else’s work and retweet a football trivia answer.

Only Marriott could somehow bungle a free gift.

This is insulting! Nice job as always marriott

As a gold, I did get 200 points. Weren’t we getting like 1000 points for answering NFL trivia? This is stupid and embarrassing.

The last two years they gave me one stay credit each anniversary year. Both stay credits and meager points are useless to me as I don’t chase status but I’m sure one stay credit is 1000x more valuable to some people than the 250 points I got this year.

200 for me! 50 more birthdays and I’ve got a free night at a Cat 1!
