Marriott has started sending out e-mails to elite members wishing them a Happy Member-versary. As part of the e-mail Marriott is also giving members a small gift. The gift varies by your status level:
- Silver: 100 points
- Gold: 200 points
- Platinum: 300 points
- Titanium: 500 points
- Ambassador: 750 points
I can kind of understand the small point bonuses for silver/gold and even platinum status to a lesser degree but Titanium status requires 75 nights in a calendar year and I can’t imagine those people being happy receiving a 500 point bonus. Personally if I had that many stays (or the 100 and $20,000 spend required for Ambassador) I think I’d just prefer to not receive the e-mail at all.

The last two years they gave me one stay credit each anniversary year. Both stay credits and meager points are useless to me as I don’t chase status but I’m sure one stay credit is 1000x more valuable to some people than the 250 points I got this year.
As a gold, I did get 200 points. Weren’t we getting like 1000 points for answering NFL trivia? This is stupid and embarrassing.
