[Expired] Get Free 2,500 Wyndham Points By Linking To Bakkt App & Spending (Or $8 Moneymaker)

Update 8/26/22: This offer is back now, but just at 2,500 (1,000  + 1,500). Valid 8/25 – 9/8. Should be able to cash these out for $8.75 too if you prefer. (ht Matthew)

Update 5/15/22: It’s back at 3,000 now, expires today May 15th. The new offer is slightly different and requires you pay with your Wyndham Rewards points using the Bakkt Visa Debit Card for the first time online or wherever Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted.

Update 3/23/22: Increased to 3,500 now through March 31. (ht FM)

Just a quick update: readers suggest that you can do this deal as a quick-ish $10 $12 moneymaker, even if you don’t have any interest in Wyndham points.

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  •  In honor of the new partnership between Wyndham and Bakkt app, you can get bonus for linking your Wyndham account with Bakkt and then redeem those points for cash.
    • Get 1,000 Wyndham points for linking your Wyndham Rewards account in Bakkt app
    • Get an additional 2,000 2,500 Wyndham points when you redeem your Wyndham points for cash in the Bakkt app.

The Fine Print

  • This Offer is limited to the first one million (1,000,000) Wyndham Rewards Members to participate
  • Maximum of one (1) First Bonus and one (1) Second Bonus per Wyndham Rewards Member.
  • Each Bonus will usually be posted to an eligible Wyndham Rewards Member’s Wyndham Rewards account twenty-four (24) hours after such Member has completed the applicable qualifying activity.
  • Members who have elected to earn airline miles in their Member profile and qualify for one (1) or more of the Bonuses hereunder will earn such Bonus(es) in Wyndham Rewards points.

Our Verdict

I wouldn’t generally recommend cashing out points in the Bakkt app due to the poor value of .35 cents per point, but it’s worth doing a small 100 points cashout just to trigger the 2,000 points bonus.

There’s a similar deal for 3,000 free Choice points with Bakkt as well.

Just curious, how long does it take to get the additional Wyndham points from converting Wyndham points into cash?

I set Wyndham Rewards as the 1st payment option and use Bakkt debit card to add $0.5 in my amazon gift card.
The $0.5 has posted into my amazon account, but I only got 750 points in my Wyndham Rewards.
The strange thing is I did not see any Wyndham Rewards points was used for this $0.5 spending.
And my cash balance in the Wyndham Rewards says $0.00 of $0.50.
It seems this $0.5 come from my cash position, not the Wyndham Rewards points.
Why?

I somehow ended up with 3750 for this. Somehow another 500 and 750 points were credited to me in the process of linking and doing the 100 point transfer to cash.

I wish Bakkt would have more ongoing promos with Wyndham Rewards or add other participating programs. I like the concept, but the use is very limited right now.

Hey Grant, I see you can link more programs than just wyndham and choice. Do you know if you can cash out the other programs, too? Or only for wyndham and choice? Grant

I don’t think any of the other programs offer any decent redemption prices.

No, I am just trying to clean up some small amounts ( like the 800 I just received from wyndham golf) rather than let them to go to waste. I didn’t want to link these old accounts if you couldn’t cash out. Rate doesn’t matter.

Could not link the Wyndham Rewards program to my bakkt account by using the iPhone app. It says insecure connection.

Maybe my hour of trying to figure it out will help others. For this new offer, in order to use Wyndham points on a purchase, you’ll need to go to part of the Bakkt app where it has your Bakkt debit card, then click on the little plus sign under where it says ‘spending order’ Then make sure you add Wyndham rewards as the first option to use, or however you want to do it so long as you spend at least some Wyndham points. I then used my Bakkt debit card to reload my Amazon account for $1. The 2000 bonus points credited within a few minutes. Be careful though, don’t buy anything more than $1 with points, it’s a terrible redemption value. I ended up spending 300 points just for the $1 Amazon reload. You end up burning 10% of this 3000 points offer at a minimum, so offer is essentially for 2,700 points plus a $1 Amazon gift card(assuming that’s what you buy)

Did you use some sort of Google Voice number?

Also created an account that was instantly locked. So why’d I give you all my personal info, then?

Given other respondents’ issues getting the account unlocked, I won’t bother.

P2 tried, and the app wouldn’t work on her phone.
