No way I would go visit one in the era of COVID19. I find their room to be disgusting, at least in DFW and CLT. They probably step up cleaning, but I wouldn’t trust a single person operation to do a very good job.

I’ve been to Minute Suites at DFW, they’re pretty horrible. They don’t even have sheets; don’t have free toilets; don’t have free water. The sofa is also tiny at maybe 175cm?

It was pretty disgusting to lie down on, back before COVID19, now with COVID, it’s even more useless, imho. They also require a credit card in order to come in, and they don’t guarantee to wake you up if you fall asleep; they claim it’s for your… whatever. I met some crazy guy at a Timberline in DEN who said he overslept in one, he told me they claimed they knocked on his door, but he didn’t wake up, and he was supposedly charged with a fee for overstaying.

The most ironic part about these are all the crazy reviews for the place — solid 4* and 5* reviews — higher than a hotel for a 1* motel feel with a cardbox sound isolation and absolutely no amenities. I don’t think I’ll ever visit one even if someone else is paying. If you’re crazy rich, and have a crazy long connection for some reason, even that probably warrants getting to a proper hotel.
