Earlier today we posted about the offer to get $60 off $300 at Marriott, widely available on many Amex cards under the ‘Amex Offers’ section. Readers in the comments there note that this offer is working with the multi-tab trick to save on many cards under a single SSN.
Amex used to allow us to do this with all offers, but then changed on August 1st to limit each Amex Offer deal to one-per-SSN. For this Marriott offer, specifically, the multi-tab trick is working to save the offer on multiple cards. Like always, the offer disappears if you add it to one card in a login, but if you have cards in separate logins or if you use the multi-tab method it’s working to add to all cards.
A reader also notes that there’s a direct link which can bring you to the Marriott offer and you’ll see it either available to add or already added. americanexpress.com/marriottoffer (login required) I can’t duplicate this link for other Amex Offer deals, I’d guess there’s something different about this offer.
The broader implication here is that not all Amex Offers are coded to be one per SSN, we’ll have to keep an eye out in the future to see which ones can be saved on multiple cards. Right now it’s just the Marriott offer that works on multiple cards, but there could be some that are not limited to one-per-SSN. I guess it’s also possible this is just a glitch/mistake, but hopefully it’s more about partner offers not having the limitations of regular Amex Offers.
