File this away as meaningless, but you might remember an old friend Nationwide prepaid Buxx. They just sent out a mass e-mailing telling many users that their accounts were just closed.
I’m not sure what “your funding account…will be debited” means. I guess if there’s a negative balance they’d pull that from the funding source. Hopefully, this won’t affect anyone.
The card became far less useful when they lowered the max load from $500 to $200 one year ago (still cost $2 to load), then they pulled the cards for new signups this past August. And now they are closing many people’s accounts.
It might be they now closed all accounts or it could be these account closures are due to inactivity. Let us know if you’re account is still open.
Update: as reported in the comments, it’s accounts that were inactive for six months that got closed out. Active accounts are still valid.
