Nationwide Buxx Being Shut Down on February 28th for Everyone

Nationwide Buxx is closing down completely on February 28th as reported on the homepage of their site. The last day to load funds is January 31st.

They already closed inactive accounts a few days ago. Soon they’ll be shutting down completely.

If a balance remains after February 28th, the card will be closed out and refunds will be sent to the primary funding source on the account within 7-10 days.

Be sure to drain the card yourself, else the refund will land up back on your credit card and you didn’t gain anything. If there’s a small balance that’s hassle to unload, just leave it there and let them refund your credit card.

After April 3o, the account history won’t be available anymore.

RIP Buxx

It looks like nationwide just refunded my Chase card. Didn’t even realize I still had money with them. Anyone know if Chase will write me a check?

Tried to drain the last $20 from an account at the ATM. Invalid transaction. Also, account no longer showing the option to switch funding account. Would have tried debit.

The switch funding account didn’t work on January 31, as I tried to add a new funding account (before I made my last load) and it wouldn’t let me.

Dang. Me and my wife’s six kids (= $1200 a week) are going to miss the easy MS and trips to 7-11.

The Nationwide Buxx was a VISA prepaid processing card. So, I guess the real question is how many other Visa prepaid processing cards are there left?

None. Especially ones that were pajama MS are all gone. AP = RIP, USB Buxx = RIP, NW Buxx = RIP, VR to BB/Serve = RIP.

Thanks for the update Chuck. Is there an alternative to using Buxx in 2017 going forward? With the termination of Redbird, Serve and Amex for Target it’s becoming more challenging to continue MS (Walmart is not an option for me in my area for “VGC to MO”). Thanks for your insight.

Publix and Winn Dixie work for VGC to MO in my area. Fortunately Walmart still works too. Post Office also works.

Actually based on YOUR wording, couldn’t you just switch the credit card on the account to something else before the end date? So the refund goes back to a different card than it was charged to?

Specifically do your last loads, then delete all the credit cards on the account. Then add back some VISA or MasterCard you’ve got with a balance on it that you never used to load NW Buxx and wait…

Or just add a debit card and have it deposited into your checking account. I’m planning to just drain normally.

If you’re willing to float the money for over a month…
Around me, the ATM withdrawals are free.

Ah well, all those anonymous payments to Citi cards were going to draw undue attention at some point anyway. This was really only worth doing for signup bonuses once the limit got set to $200. Not a great loss anymore, but will still be missed.

USBuxx was a thunderclap. This is simply a last gasp.

How were they “anonymous payments?” You actually had to call in as the holder of said citi card and speak with someone, who took down all the info including address of your buxx debit card. I’d say it looked far more legit than, say, a random billpay from Walmart.

I can’t help but think this is directly related to my decision to use it more often and finally setting up recurring loads 2 weeks ago…

Sorry, everyone 😀

Dammit. Another one bites the dust. It was great for how long it lasted.
