The Offer
Plastiq released a new promotion today targeting businesses:
- Use a Mastercard card to pay a $20,000+ bill and pay just 1.75% processing fee
Make sure the recipient is in the Business Services category. You should see the 1.75% reflected at checkout; no guessing game here. Standard fee is 2.5%, this is a .75% savings.
Any payment made in exchange for a business-related service or good, such as paying suppliers, contractors, and agencies, will be considered as “Business Services.”
The Fine Print
- Must submit the payment between Monday, July 10, 2017, 12:00 a.m. EDT and Monday, July 31, 2017, 11:59 p.m. EDT. If you’re scheduling, make sure the payment is set to process no later than July 31, 2017.
- The recipient must be in the Business Services category.
- The payment amount must be at least $20,000.
- The credit card used must be a Mastercard.
Our Verdict
This is a highly specific offer which most of us won’t find useful. For those with these kinds of large business charges, there could be a small gain in paying through Plastiq. For example, you can get 2% back with the Double Cash card for a profit of more than $50 on a $20k charge.

Havent used this before but could potentially pay using the USAA card and get .75% profit
Card only has $12k limit so i could transfer say $8k to my card from bank to increase limit and make $150
Interesting. I’m about to hire a contractor but I don’t think I’ll have a bill before the deadline
@vh, I think the online 3x ended already, no?
I dont think so. It was supposed to work till July 20th. I might be wrong though.
I suppose even the ATT card will yield something (60K TYP), I think it works till July 21
Att only is ending real estate and gift card purchases. Online categories will still get 3x ty points. I have no idea what business services through plastiq will get.
