[Expired] [NYC] Restaurant Week: Get $20.21 Meals & $10 Off With Mastercard (1/25 – 2/28)

Deal has ended, view more Mastercard deals by clicking here.

Update 2/13/21: According to reader Darin:

  • This deal is significantly better than the terms suggest. Any purchase over $20.21 for ANY Grubhub order triggers the $10 credit. I’ve now received 5 $10 credits from 3 different restaurants and not one of them was listed as a participating restaurant.

Update 2/6/28: This has been extended a full month through February 28th. Hat tip to FM

The Offer

Direct Link to offer | Mastercard registration

  • New York City Restaurant Week runs from January 25 through January 31 and features the following two offers:
    • Get lunch or dinner meals for $20.21 at participating restaurants.
    • Register and get $10 back with your Mastercard for every transaction of $20.21 or higher. Limit ten $10 credits. (This offer is now valid the following week as well, through February 7th.)

The Fine Print

  • Statement credit available only when ordering directly through restaurant website or on Bbot, Bento Box, Seamless, Grubhub, Opentable or Tock.

Our Verdict

I assume there must be some sort of restrictions or limits on which meals cost $20.21. Regardless, there should be some good deals to be had, especially when you get $10 back from Mastercard which brings the cost down to just $10.21 per meal. If you are ordering multiple meals, split the charges in order to get the $10 credit on each charge.

There’s also a separate Mastercard credit available of $10 per $20 spent at on attractions, museums, shopping and more; also $25 off $100 on hotels. Details here.

Who do I contact if I don’t get the credits? I did not get the $10 credit for multiple purchases 2/14 and after.

I made 8 RW purchases, 1st one on Feb 6 and have not seen any credits yet. All directly with the restaurant which is considered “Takeout” and thus eligible. According to https://www.nycgo.com/restaurant-week/, Statement credits should show within approximately five (5) business days of the date of qualifying purchase.

Update, my purchase on 2/13 has still not received a credit. It has been 10 business days.

DP: I made 2 non-participating GrubHub restaurant purchases on 2/15 & 2/16 (in NYC), both over $20.21 (before tax & fees). Then on 2/17 I made a purchase (over $20.21 before tax & fees) directly at a participating NYC restaurant (not via a delivery service). So far, I have only received one $10 credit on 2/17. However, my BFF made a non-participating GrubHub restaurant purchase (over $20.21 before tax & fees) on 2/15 and received a $10 credit on 2/17.

DP my friend made two GH purchases on/around 2/13 in NYC on a Chase card. Charges both posted 2/15, one $10 credit posted so far on 2/16 as “Neighborhood Getaways”.

Anyone getting credits outside NY?

Made three GrubHub purchases at NYC restaurants with my JetBlue business card after registering it for this deal. Purchases posted on 2/15 and 2/16. Based on other DPs, I’ve met all the requirements for this deal, but there is no sign of any $10 statement credits yet on my card account. I’ll update if that changes.

When you registered for deal, how did you know you were confirmed? All I seem to get is a “error, if you’ve already signed up for NY getaways you will be..” prompt or other. (But, no way of knowing I’ve been confirmed for the getaways either.)

I made 2 purchases directly with the restaurant (swiped card in person) and neither credited. I bought something from the same restaurant through GrubHub and got the credit.

I also found that only Grubhub orders gave me the credit. I tried Doordash and Toast and neither gave me credit.

Does the deal apply to ordering directly from the restaurant? that is calling b/c they don’t have a website? It saves them money as these online platforms charge a pretty high fee. Thanks!

and it should also include dining there “Register your Mastercard and earn $10 back on every transaction of $20.21 or more. Valid for takeout/delivery and dining in. Terms apply.*”

Yes, this worked for me. You can call and/or dine in person now with NYC restaurants open again.

Should note that I am NYC based, I assume this is still limited to NYC area.

did your order come out to $20.21+ before taxes and fees?

Darin

Yes, all of the orders were more than $20.21 before taxes/fees so I haven’t tested whether the credit will post if the subtotal is less than that amount but total charge is above it.

@Darin – But how did you confirm the registration via the MasterCard page? Did you get a confirmation email or any specific message that validated your registration? I’ve only received a vague “you may have signed up already” messaging (no way to verify if any of my sign-ups went through). just wondering if it’s a crapshoot then — i.e., you hope to see the $10 credit on your account?

Did not receive any confirmations for registration or with eligible purchases. Credits are posting approx 2 days after charge posts.

Thanks Darin, I’ve been ordering — and will continue to do so, regardless — so I’ll check my statements in case.

That’s good to know, because using the Restaurant Week website is very hit-and-miss, and might result in the credits not being processed timely (or at all, potentially) IMO, since many restaurants use separate backend takeout apps/interfaces. I had never heard of at least two of the URLs, and had to sign up for them separately. Sticking with one app would certainly help.

See note above, if you’re ordering from Grubhub it not only doesn’t have to be the specific combo, you can order from any Grubhub restaurant and as long as it’s over $20.21 you will receive the $10 credit. Assuming it must still be NYC area.
