The Offer
- The First State Bank (TFSB) is offering a bonus of $100 to both the referrer and referee when a new customer is referred and they complete the following requirements:
- Bring completed referral card in when opening account
- Open new checking account
- Keep account in good standing for 60 days
The Fine Print
- Referred person must be a new customer to The First State Bank (TFSB).
- A new customer is defined as someone who has not been an owner or signer on any TFSB account within the past three months.
- Incentives will be deposited into referring customer and referred customer’s DDA accounts after the referred customer’s account has been open and in good standing for at least 60 days.
- Good standing means the account has no NSF charges within the 60-day period.
- In order for either party to receive the bonus, Refer-A-Friend must be mentioned at the time of account opening.
- You may receive a 1099 MISC. Offer may not be used in combination with any other offers.
- TFSB employees and members of their immediate households are not eligible to receive referral incentives.
- Program subject to change without notice. Other restrictions may apply.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

I wasn’t able to find any mention of an early account termination fee in the fee schedule.
Our Verdict
Assuming it’s a soft pull this seems like a pretty awesome deal. You get $100 just for opening the account and there are no bonus requirements (apart from keeping it in good standing) or monthly fees to worry about. Then you can refer friends and family members and get $100 each time one of them opens an account.
