PayPal Key No Longer Working With Plastiq When Credit Card Linked

On November 26th we noted that PayPal Key was no longer working with Plastiq, this has now been officially confirmed as not coming back with Plastiq sending out the following e-mail:

PayPal has notified us they will no longer be allowing PayPal Key debit card payments through Plastiq when your PayPal wallet is linked to a credit card. Here are a few options so you can still make your payments successfully. As of now, PayPal continues to allow Plastiq payments from a PayPal Key debit card with wallets linked to another debit card, bank account, or existing PayPal balance. Please make sure you adjust any scheduled payments. Of course Plastiq also offers numerous other ways to make your payments outside of PayPal Key. You can pay with any major credit1 or debit card, or use our new cash payment feature.2 Log in here and add a new payment method.

Thanks for choosing Plastiq as your one-stop payment platform. We’re excited to continue helping you pay your way by releasing new features and improvements you’ve asked for.

Thanks for being a Plastiq customer,

Your Plastiq Team

Time to re-enable all my monthly bank auto-drafts for mortgage, etc. Was nice to pre-pay through January and knock out Q4 quarterly taxes while it lasted…

So with Plastiq charging 2.85%, i was wanting to try and get some points for my rental payment. PPK is out of the question I see with Plastiq. I’m looking to get a new cashback CC – don’t need miles since I don’t travel alot – what is a good sign up bonus for meeting an MSR for one of these cards. Appreciate the feedback.

I just scheduled a Plastiq payment for January for a tax payment around $11K using PPK linked to an Amex. Plastiq shows this as “Scheduled”, but there is no transaction on Paypal. Will this blow up when they actually go to process the transaction in January?

Tried another bill pay service where they accept debit payments and a 0$ fee and looks like PK was accepted. Then got declined after 5 minutes for any type of bill like utilities or car loan or Mortgage.

I just noticed that my mortgage companies allows payment with debit card. They use billmatrix for this service and there is a fee of $6.75 per payment. Did anyone try using paypal key for payment through billmatrix?

I tried the same way with my mortgage company. In my case Paypal key was considered as credit card and not debit card.

Let’s hope RAT doesn’t exist at PQ/PP. Otherwise, they might initiate “clawback”……

Please don’t give them any ideas, especially PP.

Joking aside, it’s doubtful they could justify a clawback of a payment method allowed by default.

I believe plastiq wont allow prepaid debit cards as a payment method. So if we link prepaid gc to paypal key and use paypal key in plastiq, i am hoping it wont be rejected. Did any one tried already?
