[Expired] Publicly Available: Upgrade you American Express Hilton Honors to the Ascend or Aspire and Get 150,000 Bonus Points [YMMV]

Update 7/15/19: Deal is set to expire to tomorrow

You can try the links below for an upgrade offer from the no-fee American Express Hilton Honors card to the Hilton Ascend $95 annual fee card or the Hilton Aspire $450 annual fee card. Both upgrade offers come with 150,000 points bonus.

We mentioned about the Ascend upgrade offer earlier today, and now reader Trimal sent in the upgrade link for the Aspire card as well. Previously, these were email offers with no direct links; now, anyone can give it a shot with the above links. The links are working for many people, but not everyone as it’s technically targeted.

We’ve updated the original post as well with these links. Check out this comparison chart on the 4 Hilton cards.

Worked for me, just now. I upgraded my plain Hilton card to the Ascend. What’s interesting is that I already have an Ascend, and didn’t know I could have two.

Mark

Can you? I wonder- I have Aspire already and got the offer to upgrade my Ascend to Aspire. I would have two Aspires. I’m not going to chance it.

Watch out for the RAT! I’m speculating that this is a trap!

Chris
Chris

Excuse my ignorance but can you explain what RAT is? I know it is Rewards Abuse Team but how could that affect people applying for this card?

bob
bob

Rewards Abuse Team – a groupAmex started that has resulted in clawbacks, and that popup that warns about eligibility for SUB’s, etc

Is it okay to do this within the first year of card membership? Or would that be RAT bait?

At least chase wont let you do it for the first year cause the agreement

I am targeted for Aspire. Ascend link did not work.

how long after you had a card before you are eligible for upgrade?

Wondering the same

The standard amount of time with Amex is 1 year. This has been true for me. Others have reported upgrade offers earlier than this, but I don’t think it’s common. Like clockwork, my cards receive upgrade offers on my cardmember anniversaries.

I just upgraded from the no annual fee for 150k and was offered to upgrade to the aspire for another 150k both in an email from hilton and in the AMEX offers section. It “worked” for me to do the second upgrade and now I need to meet the spend to see if the points post.

Have you met the spend for the first upgrade?

Justin
Justin

I would guess the second upgrade is possible because you’ve had the card/account open for more than a year. Maybe the “one year before you can upgrade” rule applies only to initial account opening. After the one year mark, multiple upgrades in short succession (for same card/account) are not against the CARD Act.

I just signed up for the ascend at the beginning of May. I have yet to receive the bonus as I’m not done with the spend. I also have a regular no fee Hilton that I could upgrade to the ascend through the link on this post (that does seem possible). I’d appreciate some advice whether I would be able to receive two bonuses for the same card product simultaneously .

Does this offer have the once in a lifetime language? I was targeted, but too lazy to strain to read the fine print on my phone.

the HIlton Cards can be rinse/repeated with the upgrades. Start with any card, downgrade to vanilla hilton, then upgrade for a bonus. then downgrade and repeat.

What if the no-fee card was a downgrade from the Surpass? Still get the 150k by upgrading to Ascend?

Jim
Jim

I don’t see why not.

Alex

Dave, I don’t know if it will work this time, but I did it back when it was the Surpass. And it did indeed work when I upgraded back up

It recently worked for me in the first round of this offer.

I’ve been waiting a long time for the Aspire upgrade but haven’t been targeted until now. Just upgraded, thanks Doc!

Same here, just upgraded to Aspire as well. I was going to get the card eventually anyhow, but this saves me a hard pull and a 5/24 slot. Thanks!

Upgraded/approved no fee to Ascend, but online still does not reflect Ascend a few hours later. IIRC it was instantly for past upgrades on Amex cards.. anyone else?

Oliver

It did not immediately change for me but it did change after a few hours.

DeezButtz

Mine took 12 hours to change

Hm 16 hours now and no change..

Mine took a couple of days but has changed now.

Have Ascend (5 months old) and a very old plain Hilton (downgraded from Surpass five years ago). I used to get targeted offers to upgrade the plain Hilton before I picked up the Ascend.
Can I upgrade my plain Hilton now (to get the upgrade bonus) and have two Ascend cards at the same time? Thanks!

Slidellian

I was in the same situation, and was able to upgrade last night. My Amex app doesn’t show two Ascends yet, though.

uindyhd

I am in the exact same situation as JC, (it has been less than a year since I met spend on my Ascend).
Have you met spend and received the bonus Slidellian?

Slidellian
Slidellian

uindyhd – Funny you should ask. I’d just checked my Hilton point balance right before seeing your reply here. My 150K bonus points posted within the past 24 hours. I’d barely completed min spend, and didn’t even have to wait until statement close. 🙂

And my Amex app does show two Ascends now.

uindyhd

VERY helpful thank you. I was a little suspicious that they would let me upgrade but not give me the bonus since it hasn’t been a year since my original Ascend bonus hit.

Slidellian

Keep me posted!

Tim

Are you able to downgrade after a year or so with no problem?

pjm
pjm

Interesting you get the same 150K bonus for each card, with more spending required and a higher fee for the aspire. I realize the aspire has additional benefits for the higher fee (they don’t justify it for me personally, but YMMV), but i’m a little surprised they don’t have more points for the aspire upgrade.

Slidellian
Slidellian

I agree. I’d have to see a much higher offer to upgrade to the Aspire. As it stands, I see no real incentive to keep either of my Ascends after a year or so.

Upgraded from no fee Hilton card to Ascend few months ago, see the 150k upgrade offer for Aspire. Should I go for it?

Emporio
Emporio

The link worked for my AMEX login credentials but this seems too good to be true. I currently hold an Aspire AMEX which I opened last summer and got a welcome bonus on and a Hilton Honors AMEX which has been open for 17 years. Personally I think that the rich benefits on the Aspire are more than worth the $450 annual fee. I was planning on closing my current Aspire on day 366 since account opening and then upgrade my Hilton Honors AMEX to the Aspire for credit management purposes so that the oldest accounts remain open and in use. But I was not expecting a welcome bonus for doing that. I couldn’t find any lifetime language in the fine print of this offer.

sophie

You can keep both of them by upgrading your old Hilton card.
