It will probably work well for Marriott. They get idiots who follow influencers and get rid of all the gamers.

As long as people are paying for hotel rooms, they DGAF.

Aw this is sad… but true. I don’t know anyone outside of this hobby who cares even the slightest, or has noticed one single change. I think 95% of people will continue to book the cheapest room available on hotels.com without a care in the world about all the things we’re mad at Marriott for.

Which sounds like it makes sense, but when has a Marriott property ever been the cheapest, if you take into account Choice, Wyndham, and the like? Even the Fairfield Inn, which is about as budget as Marriott gets, hasn’t ever been cheapest in my experience across some 10 different states. Getting people who follow influencers, that makes sense, the “cheapest room” crowd, less so.

I think it’d make a good post collect all the relevant articles in one place that demonstrate how Marriott has systematically tanked their program since the SPG acquisition.

Huh? Marriott was a terrible program before the merger – it’s actually a lot better now.

@Chuck  William Charles as you guys have stated on multiple occasions about data breeches and companies being fined – which insurance doesn’t normally cover.

The data breech basically Marriott about 3 Million and had no real impact on earnings they are basically the 800# gorilla in the room who DGAF or feel he needs to.

“The data breach, which exposed the personal information of up to 500 million individuals, cost the company, pre-tax, a total of $28 million, but those expenses were offset by insurance recoveries of approximately $25 million and did not impacted adjusted earnings, Marriott Chief Financial Officer Lenny Oberg noted during an earnings call with investors.” from 3.1.19
