I really don’t get the fervor for premium seating on Southwest. I know people hate the boarding process, but consider that they’re the only airline without the need for people to be gate lice, and that open seating makes boarding so much faster.

If this happens, it’ll go the route of Disney devolving free FastPass to their horrid Genie+ system – people complaining about the equity of having to put in effort and getting the privilege of paying instead.

And yes, I know there’s probably people who are taking advantage of pre-boarding – but that happens on every airline, (pre-boarding or not) if people don’t check. At least those people are going through the effort of registering versus just cutting into an earlier boarding group like on every other airline.

Meh on Southwest seating changes – hopefully its not worse than existing airlines. As long as they dont touch free bags & no change fees.

Why wouldn’t you want assigned seats

There are pluses and minuses of open seating. Since all other airlines in Murika are assigned seats it is nice to have this one option

Supposedly open seating allows faster boarding.

Gonna free up so many wheelchairs at the airports if WN finally stops that practice…
