No More JetBlue Miles on Amazon Gift Card Purchases

JetBlue has an outstanding promotion offering 3 JetBlue miles for each $1 of Amazon purchases made through their shopping portal. Previously, the purchase of Amazon gift cards also worked to trigger the mile bonus, but within the past 24 hours JetBlue updated the portal terms to exclude Amazon gift card purchases.

Background

On March 1, Amazon updated numerous aspects of their affiliate program. One major change is that affiliates no longer receive any commission for Amazon gift cards purchased. We wrote then that Amazon gift cards may or may not continue to pay out, depending on how JetBlue’s backend system processes it all.

As of today, the JetBlue portal added a new Amazon gift card exclusion (pictured above). According to WayBack Machine, on March 31 the gift card exclusion was not showing, meaning this showed up sometime within the past 24-hours.

In the end, it seems that purchases for the entire month of March will be paid (though not all posted yet – it takes a month or two until it shows up), but purchases from April 1 and onward will not track. RIP

In conclusion, the JetBlue portal is still a great deal for actual purchases. Going forward, a lot of people might prefer to buy their Amazon gift cards at an office supply supply store or on Gyft for 5x with INK, then use the JetBlue portal only when making the actual purchase.

As always, we appreciate those who use our Amazon link, just remember you won’t get the 3x JetBlue points when doing so.
