JetBlue has an outstanding promotion offering 3 JetBlue miles for each $1 of Amazon purchases made through their shopping portal. Previously, the purchase of Amazon gift cards also worked to trigger the mile bonus, but within the past 24 hours JetBlue updated the portal terms to exclude Amazon gift card purchases.
Background
On March 1, Amazon updated numerous aspects of their affiliate program. One major change is that affiliates no longer receive any commission for Amazon gift cards purchased. We wrote then that Amazon gift cards may or may not continue to pay out, depending on how JetBlue’s backend system processes it all.
As of today, the JetBlue portal added a new Amazon gift card exclusion (pictured above). According to WayBack Machine, on March 31 the gift card exclusion was not showing, meaning this showed up sometime within the past 24-hours.
In the end, it seems that purchases for the entire month of March will be paid (though not all posted yet – it takes a month or two until it shows up), but purchases from April 1 and onward will not track. RIP
In conclusion, the JetBlue portal is still a great deal for actual purchases. Going forward, a lot of people might prefer to buy their Amazon gift cards at an office supply supply store or on Gyft for 5x with INK, then use the JetBlue portal only when making the actual purchase.
As always, we appreciate those who use our Amazon link, just remember you won’t get the 3x JetBlue points when doing so.
Hat tip to reader WCP
Regarding points that are not tracking. I’ve contacted jetblue and they’ve said I need to contact Amazon. Apparently jetblue can’t request points. I’ve contacted Amazon, they say I need to contact jetblue. Is anyone able to get their missing points and through what means?
Maybe 25% of my purchases are crediting.
I can’t even access the amazon link on jetblue anymore. Is this completely gone even for regular purchases?
Good riddance. I am not even getting miles for buying other stuff. Waste of clicks. First and o it credit was a purchase in December.
This affects me because I’m still getting 10% off Amazon GC when I combine them with an item sold by Amazon (presumably from move deal).
So you used to be able to buy GCs and get 3X JB points then buy something with those GCs and get another 3X JB points?
The humanity…
Yup
I wonder if it will still pay out on the random deal gift cards for like Cabela’s?
Yep, I think it will.
To expand on this point a bit further, Amazon are still paying out to affiliates on third party gift cards so I suspect JetBlue will continue to until that changes.
What about reloads?
Reloads never worked from the start since it didn’t go through their check out page.
I’m pretty sure reloads will not work (even if they did work previously).
+1
But you can still earn 3x paying with Amazon GCs?
Yes, that should still work.
Why would you buy Amazon gcs at full price just to earn 3x Jetblue? Can buy Amazon at pharmacy/grocery/office supply etc and get 5%/5x/6x. Then can go and buy whatever you want on Amazon with those gcs and earn 3x. Jetblue is doing anyone who was silly enough to buy Amazon gcs on Amazon a favor
If you had a Chase Amazon gift card, you’d get 5% discount in addition to the 3x. I probably earned 200k+ Jetblue through this deal but it’s dead now. Rip…
Sorry, I meant Chase Amazon credit card
Buying what at AMZN? 70k of GCs?
Most of their GC deals are poor.
Yes, Amazon gift cards. There were some buyers paying 95% for Amazon so it was breakeven but free Jetblue.
Do you mean you sold to individual buyers (ie people you knew) or to companies? If the latter, which companies paid 95%?
+1
I suppose at&t still earns 3x typ on Amazon, then when you buy amazon gc from amazon, you can get 3x typ + 3x jetblue, which is better than amazon grocery card (4.5x or 6%). Another good thing is you can avoid waiting time when you go to grocery store to buy those card. The negative part is, you will loose gas points from grocery store (such as safeway).
“amazon grocery card ” -> “amex grocery card “
In this post, we write that you won’t earn 3x JB on Amazon gift card purchases. So 5x INK is better than 3x TYP.
Yes, it’s true. My point is, previously 3x typ + 3x jb was better than 5%/5x / 6% (when amazon gc still counts). So Mser’s comment “Jetblue is doing anyone who was silly enough to buy Amazon gcs on Amazon a favor” is not appropriate.
Ah, okay, I misunderstood
My go-to is still the Platinum/MPX/Jetblue grouping.
Yields .5 united miles, 5 MR points, and 1 JetBlue mile per dollar.
AFAIK, Platinum is not earning 5x on MPX. Are you seeing otherwise?
