[Rumor] Wells Fargo Propel Revamp Information

Update: According to a normally reliable justinsidebieber the card will launch on July 30th, 2018. It will be 3x on dining, travel & gas (looks like maybe they replaced streaming services with travel?). Sign up bonus will be 30,000 points after $3,000 in spend. Unfortunately Wells Fargo has a one bonus per 15/16 month rule. This still bodes well for the Propel World & Propel 365 offering competitive bonuses and good category bonuses.

Wells Fargo discontinued the Propel & Propel 365 cards on February 11th, 2018. The Wells Fargo Propel World card is still available for sign up and is one of the best credit card bonuses currently offered. The plan was always to revamp the Propel line of cards and we finally have some potential information regarding the Propel card, according to an inside source the card will offer:

  • 3x points on travel, dining and popular streaming services

The card refresh is due to happen on June 23rd. Currently this card offers:

  • 3X points at U.S. gas stations
  • 2X points at U.S. restaurants
  • 1X points on all other purchases
  • No annual fee
  • 10% bonus points when maintain a qualifying consumer Wells Fargo Checking or Savings Account, or PMA® Package

When it was previously offered it had no sign up bonus. I don’t think the product revamp is particularly exciting as it’s possible to earn more on other cards for travel & dining purchases. That being said, offering 3x categories on a no annual fee card does bode well for potential changes they might make to the Propel 365 and Propel World cards.

Looks like this card is actually more attractive, it has travel gas dining and online stream service for 3 points.
It also has cellphone protection.

I hope the cards retain the no foreign transaction fee.

All of the Propel cards are currently Amex… I’ve not seen any indication that they plan to change the network.

The Propel World card is still available for sign up? Went in branch and they said they couldn’t locate it and it was because it was discontinued. I will have to try calling in.

OT: I know buying GCs especially from stores which send L3 data (e.g. Staples) using an Amex card for MSR is a strict no no.
Does this also apply to WF issued Amex card like WF Propel World card?
Thanks

Thanks.
What about SERVE reloads ?
Do they count for MSR?

A no-AF 3% travel/restaurant card is always welcome, especially for those of us who aren’t a fit for one of the AF travel cards (CSR, etc.).

This change will give me a reason to finally give the card a spot in my wallet again.

-G-,
I recently read DoC comments about 3x on gas / dining and learned that the Chase AARP (no 5/24, no AF) offers 3% for gas and 3% for restaurants!

Thanks for the mention… I’ve got my eye on the AARP, but the (hopefully) upcoming Propel changes are especially attractive to me since I already have it and I wouldn’t have to use a 5/24 slot. 😉

And sometimes a $200 sign up bonus.

That’s right, I recently signed my sister up for AARP with that $200 cash bonus. It will also serve as her main card along with the Citi Double Cash where AARP doesn’t offer 3x.

They should really call the new card Propel Revamp as WF needs real revamp from banking scandals.

3x on travel+dining is decent if you pair it with the Visa Sig for the 1.5x air travel uplift (I’m sure many of us are already doing that for the points from the Propel World signup bonus). That’s basically 4.5% CB (albeit only when redeemed for air travel) w/ two zero-AF cards.

Such a pity that WF doesn’t allow PCs, though. It’s probably still not a good enough proposition for most of us to consider applying for it outright.
