The Fine Print

  • Valid until April 18th, 2017
  • One offer per transaction
  • $10 coupon expires after 7 days from issuance
  • Cannot be used towards the purchase of any gift card

Our Verdict

There is a similar promo at Office Depot/Max, although that deal is better as it’s $10 off instantly and you can do per transaction (e.g $100 triggers $20 off). This is still a good deal if you can easily use the $10 off coupons. Make sure you use a credit card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases.

Does anyone know if the 10 off next order stacks? Or is it just one 10 off per purchase?

Can confirm that the 10 off next order does print out when buying variable load mastercard gift cards (with the side tear, gold colored, 20-500)

this is the time to stack with the grocery store spend on amex box and freedom cards, people

and if you want to be extra awesome, by the gift cards at one of the registers that don’t have the cupon printers…(ie the over-seer for the self checks)…you won’t get your cupons, but when you point that out, they will give it to you on a safeway giftcard, which has no usage restrictions like the cupons do

Is this automatically applied? A few weeks ago, I purchased a VISA gift card and got two coupons. One was $4 off $40 the other was $10 off $90.

DP: I was able to buy a $20-$500 variable load MCGC for $500+fee at Safeway and it triggered the $10 credit.

YMMV, of course, but if you’re knocking out minimum spend on a new card and wanted to buy a $500 MCGC instead of a fixed-value $100 MCGC, this may work for you.

At my store, the variable load MCGCs also had a little paper banner over them in the gift card section that specifically indicated that they were eligible for this deal.

Ugh — typo. That’s recent “Stop&Shop/GIANT deal.”

I’m pretty sure that ALL the Albertson’s-owned stores are participating (never hurts to double-check), but it’s a pretty tepid deal. Only good on the non-variable MCs, and the coupon only gets you $10 off of your next $25 grocery store purchase. Every market is different, but in my area the Albertsons stores (Safeway and Acme) are high priced, so I don’t do my regular shopping there. And $10 off $25 is only valuable if you’re going to shop anyway. This is in contrast to the recent Stop&Shop/Acme deal, where you could buy any Visa card (including the variables) and get $15 off your next grocery purchase, no minimum.

My purchase of a $500 variable MCGC at Safeway today triggered the $10-off deal. YMMV.

Does anyone know if the fixed price MC GC earns fuel points? In my experience the VGC variable did not.

Vons does have this. Got a coupon printed out shopping yesterday but haven’t used it yet. I’m having trouble using master card from OD at WM theses days. The “change payment” option doesn’t come up anymore and pushing cancel didn’t bring it up the screen either, so can’t liquidate it that easily anymore. Anyone has the fix to it?

Nothing has changed; works as much as it ever has.

Is this a coupon that you need to present at TX time or like an ad? Which region was that?
