Our Verdict
In the past, the $100 and $50 Visa deals as Safeway did not work on variables; you’ll have to find those exact fixed denomination cards. The Univision deal is interesting since that’s a variable-load up to $500, and reader Jordan tells us that credit cards work on this; hopefully it can be unloaded as well.
Remember to save the offer first to your card before use. You won’t get fuel points on Visa cards.

DP: I could buy $500 Univision with cc at my local Safeway. The purchase fee was $2.95 which is essentially offset by the deal (save $2.95). I called to activate (automate system) and was charged $5.95 for the “basic plan”. However, in order to add the card to Venmo, I had to talk to an agent who registered my personal information to the card.
Can I buy all 4 cards in one transaction? ($300) Will both offers come off?
What are the fees for the $50 and $100 vgc?
It’s already a hassle to liquidate 200 VGCs, and for such a little payout, going with 100 ones is simply not worth it. PASS.

after 2 fees of 6.95 =13.90–you clear 1.10, but with a 3 5 or 6 % card a bit better but wholly a waste of time. And most reps at Acme dont know the rules and start asking crazy q. Not worth it by far.
Eh why not just get 2x 100. Make $3 on $200 ($197) plus $3 Chase UR points per transaction. $3 ultimate rewards valued easily $5 for Hyatt transfer. Wouldn’t mind running around couple times to be that much closer to the next all inclusive vacation. My local Tom Thumb is taking CC
Jewel didn’t let me buy Visa gift card with Credit card last time. Does anyone have luck with that?
Yes, they started recently from last 15 days. They are not allowing to buy visa/mc GC using credit card. YMMV as it is not hard coded in registers

I just tried the variable for $500 with my friendly neighborhood Safeway cashier and it was a no go. She ripped open the back of the card to process and she said it didn’t take the JUst 4 U promo

Yes they did… but somehow this time it’s giving fuel points. Gotten them 4x already.
