Our Verdict
In the past, the $100 and $50 deals at Safeway did not work on variables; you’ll have to find those exact fixed denomination cards. Remember to save the offer first to your card before use. You won’t get fuel points on Visa/MC gift cards. Make sure to use a card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases.

Two out of three local ACMEs have all $100 VGC vanish. They were there earlier. Not sure if someone cleared them out or the stores deliberately removed the stock.
There’s also 8X gas points for happy cards, which can be used at home depot, dell, etc.

Why is MCGC selling worse than VGC? I thought US bank is at least more reputable than Meta Bank
Requires really fast fingers to change payment type or ask to swipe card first which some cashiers will resist on doing so, when liquidating at Walmart.
Lately it doesn’t require anything,not even pin. Swipe and done
I vaguely remember hearing MCGC is more prone to be stolen. Not sure why. And also if u were to use them online, u had to register them, unlike VGC

At my WM I just use 3 VGC then MCGC as the last one and it’s pretty easy no trigger finger required 😉

Depends on the type of the MCGC. Look at the packaging and you will figure it out.
The MC Red Plaid with a bow is a pin inside on piece of card stock. My favorite! Buy at register, buy MO at CS.

It’s not really worthwhile for the vast majority of us readers when the $5 activation fees on each card is factored in.
$5.95 here and Safeway Hawaii adds $.25 tax so it becomes $6.20
Wife tells me her bank of America card is offering 5% cash back at grocery stores. If that is true 2 x $100 will cost me $187.05. $400 worth of gift cards would be $25 in savings for me. Don’t care / can’t use the fuel points.
