Albertson’s, Safeway, Tom Thumb and affiliated stores are offering a special deal to get $10 off $50 on select gift card brands. The following gift cards are eligible:
- Mastercard
- Bath & Body Works
- Bedandbreakfast.com
- The Children’s Place
- Fandango
- IHOP
- JCPenney
The offer is showing in some (?) stores, but isn’t found in the weekly circular.
The Fine Print
- Valid 5/3/17 – 5/16/17
- Gift card purchases must be made in a single transaction
- One offer per transaction
- Excludes Mastercard variable-load products
Our Verdict
The Slickdeals thread indicates that this deal is regional and YMMV. If you have a Safeway, Albertson’s or any affiliated brands (Vons, Tom Thumb, etc.) nearby it could be worth a visit.
Variable-load Mastercards won’t work as per the terms, but if you find a fixed-value $200 or $100 or $50 it could be a good deal. Some of the other gift card brands might be interesting to some as well.
The biggest part of the deal is obviously how many you can do. The terms indicate that the limit is one per transaction so it’ll depend on how many the cashier is willing to do for you.
Use your Chase Freedom card to max out the $1500 category limit or use another card that earns bonus points at the grocery.
