• Existing Sam’s Club members can refer-a-friend to Sam’s Club via email and both will receive a $10 Sam’s Club e-gift card after the friend becomes a member through the referral.

Simply click the ‘Refer Now’ button and you’ll be prompted to sign  into your Sam’s account and provide the email address of the friend you wish to invite.

The Fine Print

• Friend must join within 30 days of when the email is sent, using the link in the email.
• $10 e-gift card can be used online or in-club.
• To redeem the $10 Sam’s Club e-gift card, click on the e-gift card link and follow the instructions provided in the email.

Our Verdict

As noted, many people may be interested in becoming Sam’s members in order to take advantage of the a recent offer by Amex which gives us a free $20 at Sam’s. The offer is no longer available for signup and is only available for those who already have the offer saved on their card.

It is possible to order from Sam’s without membership though there is a 10% surcharge when doing so and for that reason many would prefer becoming members. Also, e-gift card purchases are limited to Sam’s members. See All You Need to Know About the Sam’s Club Amex Offer for more details.

Sam’s membership costs $45 and this deal will take ~$10 out of the cost.

One thing to keep in mind is that there are occasionally deals on Groupon which enable you to get Sam’s membership for less than the typical $45. Still, by getting a $10 gift card and allowing your friend to get one as well, you’re getting a pretty good deal.

Discover $10 Gift Card Deal

There’s also a deal you’ll see in your Discover account under Discover Deals which will give you a $10 Sam’s gift card for becoming a Sam’s member or renewing your Sam’s membership. (HT: Mileswhip)

• Go to your Discover account and find ‘Sam’s Club’ in the Discover Deals section.
• Print out the coupon provided by Discover.
• Bring it into a Sam’s location and become a member or renew your membership.
• You’ll receive a $10 Sam’s gift card for signing on an ordinary Sam’s membership or a $25 gift card for a Plus membership.

This offer is apparently only available in-store and can’t be done online. They also mention that you need to pay with your Discover card, although it’s unclear if this is actually enforced.
