Samsung Pay: You Can Now Add Your PayPal Account

Samsung Pay users can now add their PayPal accounts as a payment option. Unfortunately it looks like it will only allow you to use your paypal balance, rather than a credit card linked to your PayPal account. This will make mostly useless for most readers. It’s unfortunate that linked debit/credit cards don’t work as this would be one way of getting around the fact that not all cards can be added to Samsung Pay currently. It’s especially bad currently as PayPal is earning 5% via Chase Freedom on up to $1,500 in purchases for this quarter.

Just added PayPal to Samsung Pay and see that if you have no balance or not enough of a balance in your PayPal account, it will “top off” your PayPal balance in whatever increment you want with whatever card or bank account you set. So you can use this as a way to get an unsupported card into Samsung Pay

Sorry, actually it looks like it will only work with a bank account or debit card.

not that anyone really cares about cyber security here all too much despite the many data breaches, but i thought to give this PSA anyway:

limit your daisy chain account linking to other accounts linking to other accounts etc etc. hackers love finding one weakness and being able to access your entire life. u need fail safe gate locks in silos.

Wish that we could add more than 10 or 11 CC/DC to Samsung wallet as well as Chase Business cards (Chase would benefit from lower fraudulent charges – as the Bio-metrics/pin and encrypted virtual card token/numbers.

Also be nice if you could add retail cards i.e. ( HD, Best Buy, Lowes, etc) to the Samsung wallet as well.

Chase Pay:
I guess they are fixated on the QR/Barcode app that they bought rather than at a bar minimum adopt NFC so that at least personal Chase cards could be used at the same places as Apple/Android~Google Pay with contactless equipped card readers. Would be awesome if you could add Biz cards to Digital wallets, in some ways Chase is progressive, but it other ways they are behind the curve.

Also wish that more Banks would adopt like WF temporary app generated PIN in place of a Card for ATM usage or at least ATMs that could used digital wallets with the contactless symbol – I have seen a lot of Chase ATM machines with the Contactless symbols but not are activated I have found.

With Paypal – so even if you delete your Debit card/Bank account info and have no balance its still a no-go?

Would be a nice work around, though

I have the recent update to Samsung Pay, but I don’t see any options for PayPal.l I can add my PPDMC to the cards though.

The last Samsung Pay update made a decent app run worse. Transactions are not posting in Samsung Pay, even though the vendor and credit card used acknowledge that a transaction has been completed.

I wonder if someone will find a workaround to get it to use a card.
